Premarital Counseling

Is anyone doing, or have done in the past, non-religious premarital counseling? A friend of mine was talking about doing this. It is not pre-cana as she is not having a religious ceremony. Now I am curious are there different workshops out there for couples like this?

Premarital Counseling

Before we started precana, after we completed FOCCUS, FH and I went to a counselor to discuss our FOCCUS results. FH told me he would do whatever it took to make out marriage work. The planning has been quite stressful at moments and has cause a bit of friction at times. I would never scoff at counceling.

It for some reason is not a thought in my head. I ALWAYS think therapy is a great thing no matter what the situation. It won't ever harm your future marriage! I would definitely do it and might now consider it myself. Everything was great pre engagement, but all of this planning has made us realize there will be some minimally trying times. I say go for it :)

Premarital Counseling

Our church does not do Pre Cana but we do go talk with the Pastor a few times to talk about ourselves and I guess issues that come up in marriage. Im all for going to talk to someone if you feel that it will better your future or help with problem solving.

It is a test usually given by a church in which your FH and you answer the same questions but in different rooms and then they process it and then the priest will go over it with you and if you answered something different then he will discuss that with you. The questions are usually involving money, family planning,trust issues,family life, and sometimes drinking/drugs.
