premium vs top shelf

premium vs top shelf

with less than 3 weeks before the wedding, I realize the difference between premium(what we currently have) and top shelf (what we are now going to be paying extra for) and I was soooooo pissed that I didn't notice this when we booked!

Anyone else have this problem??

I feel stupid cuz I just thought open bar was open bar-meaning everything!
now I have to cut something else to add this because we are already over budget

I'd be okay with those too!
Unfortunately grey goose is top shelf (and that one is pretty important to me) so are imported beers.

Where is your wedding? I found that to be the case when hall shopping with Lessing RHs. I asked a lot about the bar when looking for RHs. If top self is just importaint to you some halls are willing to make sure you (and some the BP) have what you want at no additional cost. I would ask ur BM if that is something you would be ok with.

I was surprised by this also- I assumed that open bar meant everything, now I'm anticipating spending more...

ETA- I think that RH's should really discuss this with people while booking, so at least we can re-arrange our budgets...

I didn't know the difference either. I was reading an old post on LIW when I realized it and asked my BM about it.

I emailed my BM and she sent me a list of the brands that were included. She also said if there was something not on the list that I absolutely needed, to let her know and she would try to get it.

so sorry to hear you are dealing w/this...I know, these venues can be tricky sometimes. Its really exhausting having to be on top of every single detail w/them. I used to be an event coordinator and it was insane how detailed I had to be in my discussions w/venues to be sure we were both on the same page.

Most will usually throw in a few upgrades. I wasnt happy with the vodka offering at my RH and they threw in Grey Goose and a few other higher end options. I would fight them on it

My halls is like this too and the person i am working with told me this upfront. FH and I are not big drinkers so it's not a big deal to us. As long as they have beers, basic mixed drinks and frozen drinks we're good to go.

They don't give you a list of what's included? I have to make sure to ask to see one now. Thanks for the heads up. I'm sorry that happened to you. Good luck. I say try and negotiate with them. I feel like this is something they should have told you up front.

They should have told you up front that would matter to me cause we are big drinkers

I did not know the difference but luckly my FH did (he worked at liquior store in college) so he asked what alcohol was included in each package. Mine is top shelf but many venues wanted to charge more to upgrade the alcohol. Sorry that you are going through this.
