presentation of rose to moms at ceremony

Is anyone doing this? I am trying to write this part of my ceremony and I'm getting stuck. Can someone help me out? What are you saying the rose represents and what is the reason we are giving it to our moms? I am also thinking of giving my rose to my FH's mom, and he give his to my mom. I am just at a loss for words!! :) JOY

what I am doing

Our officiant will bring 4 roses with him...give 2 to us for this ceremony... Ceremony of the Roses Officiant- ____and ____have exchanged their rings, an outward symbolic gift of the union they share. They have publicly announced their love and devotion by the exchange of vows. Before their pronouncement as husband and wife, I request that they perform one more act of symbolism. Since ancient times the Rose has been synonymous with the words I Love You. In your hands you each now hold a single red rose. For your first gift as a married couple, I ask that you now exchange your roses. In some ways it seems like you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small rose - and now you are holding one small rose. In some ways, marriage is like this. Tomorrow is going to seem no different than yesterday. But in fact today, just now, you both have given and received one of the most valuable and precious gifts of life - the gift of true and abiding love within the devotion of marriage. ______and _______, I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future that you both pick one very special location for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion you both may take a rose to that spot both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love and trust. If in the course of your life together, you should ever find that you are at odds or at a loss for words, leave a rose at that spot which both of you have selected - for that rose says what matters most of all, it says, 'I still love you.' The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both share today. And then we will take the other two and give them to the moms...(Im thinking one for my dad as well??? and FH had a nanny growing up who they call his 2nd mom...want to make sure she is not offended...)

Joy, I'm thinking about that too - instead of unity candle

I'm not sure how to say and word this either. I guess we'll both keep looking and try to figure something out! ;-) Yabbobay - that is a beautiful touch to the ceremony!
