Pressure for an elaborate wedding but no budget for it
Does anyone feel pressured to have an elaborate wedding even though your budget isn't large enough for one?
My fiance works in the fashion district and our wedding is the talk of the entire office. We're inviting all the exec's and some designers and I feel like we have to make this a top notch event to impress them. Not to mention my fiance's family from Puerto Rico is sacraficing a lot to come to our wedding, and I'm already being told that our party better be better than his cousin's sweet sixteen in P.R.
Our budget is super tight, and I'm getting nervous about how all of this is going to turn out. I really just want to enjoy our wedding day withought having to worry about what everyone else thinks. But I'm a natural worry wart.

I can understand your worry - but since its so early on you have to remind yourself that this day you are planning - the once in a lifetime day is only for you and FH.
Yes you have guests and family - and you want them to be happy. Not everyone will be happy - that's a given but when you look back on your pics 10,20,30 years later you want to be sure you smile thinking about the amazing time you and hubby had.
Try to remember that - do what you can - it's not about impressing people but it is about making memories.

Every.Time. I. Watch. Any. Wedding. Show. On. TV
Yes, unfortunately I dont have $30 - 50K lying around to spend on my wedding so it will have to be whatever my budget will allow. The hardest part is not getting carrried away with all the nonesense. I mean, really..there are a lot of things we don't 'need' for a wedding - so the basics are really where the meat of the costs are (RH, photo, DJ/band).

It's true, you can't please everyone. I should't worry my mind or our bank accounts in order to do so. After all, as long as my FH and I enjoy ourselves, that's all that really matters.
And yees! those wedding shows certainly don't help matters at all.

Totally agree about the wedding shows - especially Platnum Weddings!!!! I still watch them though!

definitely, especially from family members that always have over the top events... they are probably not pleased about some choices of mine, but whatever... you can do only what you can afford! and in the end its about you marrying your FH

Elaborate & expensive does not always mean better! I went a lavish wedding that was the most boring thing ever, and i've been to some great weddings that were nothing fancy but were fabulous...it's what you make of it that counts...i've watched many platinum wedding shows and thought 'well there's a waste of $30k on that stupid idea'...don't stress!

I feel the same way. Everyone wants it to be this huge thing. I just tell them when someone says something like this liek ok well have that when you pay for it.

Your day is what you make of it! I wouldn't worry about trying to please everyone as long as your happy!
