Pressure to book Perferred?

Pressure to book Perferred?

So I dont know if I am being overly cautious but so far I have only looked at prefered venders. I feel more confident booking with them, even though i have been reading a few horror stories here and there about everyone...prefered or not.
I dont know....any ideas?

The only prefered vendor I booked was my limo but it had nothing to do with it being a prefered vendor. Just heard good things about them.

I haven't booked any preferred vendors. We've just gone with who we like best and trust most.

you also have to realize that vendors may be rec. at somewhere other than your hall..so for example some of the dj's im looking at are not rec. by my hall, but are rec. by other halls..

so far ive only booked 1 vendor that was rec. by my hall

My videographer is the only preferred vendor. Do not feel obligated to go with a preferred vendor. Try looking at an outside vendor and see what you think. If you love who the RH is suggesting, then go with them. However, don't feel pressured that those are the only vendors you can look at and /or book.

FYI.... companies pay to be prefered at halls...

So let's say a dj wants to be a house vendor at fairfield manor they pay fairfield to do their advertising by making them a house vendor..

it usually is cheaper to go with vendors that are not house vendors for any company bc they are not paying those extra fees... (i.e. FM Entertainment)

Also remember that house vendors will be cheaper on your hall bill... usually you do not have to pay for a house vendors meal...

i went to a preferred vendor that i hated and i have been to ones i loved, i think its a good starting point but no means a definite yes just because they do business with your rh

I was just going to say the same thing.....they're paying to be 'prefered halls' so it doesn't always mean that there the best......each hall has different ones too.....so just go which ever company you feel comfortable with.....don't feel pressured to go with anyone

No way, they pay to be on this site.

Do i read all the girls reviews and suggestions to get ideas of who I want to use of course.

Another big thing is if you have a negative review of a perferred vendor they send you an email saying to take down the comment ASAP, which I dont like.

I suggest using this site and others like weddingwire yelp or the knot and do tons of research

Also it depends sometimes you have a great experience with a perferred vendor and other times you dont. All depends if you click with them or not

Re: Pressure to book Perferred?

I have 3 preferred vendors:

Photo - but this actually is just a coincidence b/c even though my photography studio is a preferred house vendor from NRC, I was going to use them no matter where I got married (I know the owner)

Band - my compromise to booking a band instead of a dj was that it HAD to be a house vendor so I didn't have to pay for them to eat.

Decorations - I am having extra tulling and lighting being draped from the ceilings of my RH and the RH only allows certain vendors for this.

My limos and florist are not NRC house vendors.

I think she means preferred vendors (house vendors) from the RH. Not necessarily LIW vendors.

I didn't necessarily book the preferred vendors. I looked at some, but went more off of previous brides recommendations than my venue. To me, that was the best feedback I could get.

i think looking at preferred vendors is a good way to start, but also do some of your own research as well... you might love a preferred vendor for some things but not for others

I have considered preferred vendors; but all the vendor's I have book so far I found on my own.

House vendors also give a $$$$ commission back to the hall when you book them. Guess who pays for that.

I am not going with any preferred vendors ... preferred vendors PAY to be on that list! Then the hall usually gets a cut of your contract with them ...

Its all about the $$$

I am doing my own research!!

Re: Pressure to book Perferred?

at my hall as far as my knowledge goes their preferred list of vendors are companies who have worked with their staff numerous times. i am not required & i am actually not booking any preferred vendors that my hall recommends but i have to have my photo, video & someone from the band meet with me, FH & the bm at the RH prior to the wedding to go over all the details.

Re: Pressure to book Perferred?

my hall doesnt have any reccomended vendors...they just say, these are companies that have been here in the past and did good work... My photog ended up being recomended by my hall but I had no idea that he was. He also is a friend of FH's uncle, thats why we went with him (that and he does FABULOUS work!!)

Except for my limo company, I didn't book any 'preferred' vendors. I used whomever was giving me the best prices and quality.
