Price church too high? Please advise....

Price church too high? Please advise....

I am reposting this.

My FI and I saw a historical church that we both really like. It's not our church. So they are charging us more because we are not members of their church.

The price is $1200 including officiant, rehearsal, coordinator, candles and linen aisle runner.

What do you think?

I said no only bc mine is 900 ( I think...its a lot so somewhere near 1000) and if you really love the church, your not paying MUCH more. I guess you can ask your parish how much they are...if they are in the range you might not mind the extra cple hundred if you love it.

Ours is $750 including music too.....but if you love it and it's in your budget, it's not too much! It's all relative!

The officiant I will probably book is charging $800 plus travel to my site, so I don't think its much for an officiant/church you are really comfortable with.

Mine is a rabbi that sings and comes with a chuppah , I guess that justifies the price...

Ours is $700 including music, so $1200 seems pretty high to me.

I don't know. I never asked what the prices are for members. I know that they charged higher to non-members (or non-parishioners).

Anyway I don't mind to pay more and helped the church, but it has be reasonable.

We have only seen this church so far and we love it, so we didn't look further.

That sounds very high.... My church is $500. I know sometimes if people don't go on a regular basis they jack up the price but would they go for $1000. Just wonder if there is any room for negotiation???

I would say if it's in your budget and you really love the church then do it.

honestly--this comes down to whether YOU think its worth it and if you guys wanna get married there that bad. when its comes to weddings, i've always found that what some might seem 'too high' others say 'i don't care--i NEED that'

my DJ was a bit high priced---i know it was waaay more than i planned on spending. BUT -- i knew i wouldn't find anyone else that i liked as much. you just have to ask yourself how much you want it

Good question. It's true what are the parts of the wedding is every important and that's definitely the church ceremony. Thanks!!!

Re: Price church too high? Please advise....

I'm paying that much for mine because it's not a church that either Fh or I belong to. Because I'm protestant and he is barely catholic we decided we would get married by a protestant minister...that then led to wanting to do it in a protestant church...it was certainly importantn for me so I went with that pricing.
