Okay, so in beginning research for where to have our wedding...I've come across some confusing information.
We have prioritized some dates when we'd like to have it. However, being teachers and having the patience to delay a honeymoon, etc. - and also taking into account that my widower father with 3 daughters (who is most unpleased that I'm not having a Catholic wedding) probably won't be providing very much support, etc. , we are going to be very flexible about when we are having it.
Here's the deal, though...certain places are listed as starting at say...$65. The posts I'm seeing on here about price quotes are quoting those places at prices like $120 for a seemingly unpopular time of year. I visited one such place so far, and for a March Palm Sunday, he told me I'd get a great deal- a great deal being $95 pp..... Okay, but in the magazines and on here, it says that prices start at $65....so what else could I do to bring down the price?
Do any places offer individual pricing options if you want to cut back from certain things (ie: take away one out of the 2 cocktail hours, etc.) ? We are looking for a place to have a ceremony and reception....
I feel like there is only one place I know of where someone had their wedding for under $100 pp.
My fiance also doesn't want to do a Knights of Columbus or any place where one might attend an event like a communion, etc. He wants a real reception hall/wedding venue.
Finally, we're probably having somewhere between 100 and 150 people.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks so much for any information you may have!!

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
Maybe consider having an Afternoon wedding or I have heard even Thursday nights have become more popular bc of the price hikes for a weekend.
My stepsister had her wedding at the Brentwood country club on a sunday afternoon and it was beautiful. Plus everything is included into one price (i.e RH, flowers, DJ, cocktail hour, invitations, photographer and videographer) The price was very reasonable and like I said it was beautiful and the food was really good too

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
Well i'll tell you this...don't really go by what's in the magazines. I was using wedding, sites and services as my guide and the prices for alot of places were off. Now i will say that Jan-March is usually an off season for the RH and many other vendors. I am getting married in Feb. and i am actually paying less than what the starting price was listed as in the wedding, sites and services book. Try to be flexible with the days as well as the months. Also look into picking a holiday or around a holiday. My day is the day before Presidents Day. Therefore, all of my guests are off the following day.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
well like it says, the starting price for the RH is that BUT that is before any taxes are included or gratuity added to it. For cheapest time to get married its in january and february and to get it at the starting price then usually will have to be a sunday afternoon. BUt even then remember the price given to you per person is not what it will be after they include the tax and gratuity which can be 18-20% so that can add quite a bit so that is why it will end up costing a little more.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
I recommend Chateau La Mer-- we were quoted under $100 for Fri night, Sat Day, and Sun weddings... (plus of course gratuity and tax)...however I think if you search the winter/off peak months or sunday day weddings, it may be in the price range you are looking for...FM me for more info.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
i sent you fm because i didn't want to post actual prices on here, but like i said in the fm.. it also depends on how many people you guarantee, 65pp probably means you guarantee 250 people.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
I'm having a Sun night wedding in Sept for $85 pp whihc comes to a little above $100 with tax and gratuities....we had to guarantee 150, only because it is labor day weekend, otherwise it would have been 125. I would try Crest Hollow, FM me if you want more details

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
Larkfield Manor has pricing starting at about $75 for Sun nite and we did Sun of labor day weekend for same as non-holiday. we had the small room that holds up to about 120 and we guaranteed only 60 for that. now that was in Nov 2006 so things might have changed a bit. but the people are very nice and I think they's try to help you.
food outrageous too and oodles of it.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
Check out Westbury Manor,,,, The person I spoke with there gave me so many price options i.e. time of year, afternoon or PM, and day. He even knocked off $10 of the price and added on some cool stuff.
Leonard's of Great Neck said for them price per person is a lot lower in August.... 85 + tax &grat.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
Try the Irish Coffee Pub. They are amazing and have great prices. Be careful with Palm Sunday, if you are catholic, bc some churches may not marry you. Just double check before you book.

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
Definitely don't go by what magazines or online quotes may provide.. Its best to visit and call a few places without jumping the rope.. Things change gradually and plans change constantly.. My main concern was budget and regardles I will make a budgeted wedding look like A MILLION dollars.. Go by your instant and don't get to concern with prices.. Make sure they include lots of stuff so you don't come out of pocket.. FM with any questions..

Re: Price Discrepancies for RH?
What about the Swan Club? I only got quotes for July, so yours should be cheaper.
I got Saturday afternoon - $70 pp (plus tax and grat) and Sat night $98 pp (plus tax and grat)
I also got reasonable quotes from Fox Hollow, Sunset Harbour, Watermill, Riviera, and Chateau La mer. All of these were for min of 100, or 110.
All of those places I only got quotes for Sat. afternoons though.
