Price Discrepancies for RH?

Original post by smashingsiren

Okay, so in beginning research for where to have our wedding...I've come across some confusing information.

We have prioritized some dates when we'd like to have it. However, being teachers and having the patience to delay a honeymoon, etc. - and also taking into account that my widower father with 3 daughters (who is most unpleased that I'm not having a Catholic wedding) probably won't be providing very much support, etc. , we are going to be very flexible about when we are having it.

Here's the deal, though...certain places are listed as starting at say...$65. The posts I'm seeing on here about price quotes are quoting those places at prices like $120 for a seemingly unpopular time of year. I visited one such place so far, and for a March Palm Sunday, he told me I'd get a great deal- a great deal being $95 pp..... Okay, but in the magazines and on here, it says that prices start at $65....so what else could I do to bring down the price?

Do any places offer individual pricing options if you want to cut back from certain things (ie: take away one out of the 2 cocktail hours, etc.) ? We are looking for a place to have a ceremony and reception....

I feel like there is only one place I know of where someone had their wedding for under $100 pp.

My fiance also doesn't want to do a Knights of Columbus or any place where one might attend an event like a communion, etc. He wants a real reception hall/wedding venue.

Finally, we're probably having somewhere between 100 and 150 people.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks so much for any information you may have!!

Definitely check out the Old Field Club! It's an ideal space for that amount of ppl, the prices are pretty consistent, the space is stunning and the food is amazing! Even if you don't go with it, it'll be worth your time to check it out!

magazines are good to get an IDEA...but i always added about $50 onto whatever was listed. Magazines post the cheapest time of day, year, usually it's also a price for a buffet instead of a sitdown, and no add-ons...that is a 'starting' price. Your best bet would be to just go to your few favorites in person...talk to whoever you meet with, negotiate - then bring that price somewhere else & see if they can do better...this is what we did & it really helped. NEVER give a yes or no while you're there.. it's great to call later on & say 'You guys are my DREAM place but i was wondering if we can do any better on the price' etc, ....good luck!

Were the prices for Larkfield Manor and Swan Club similar? I'm going to look at both of them but heard that you get more at the Larkfield..

We are paying 61 pp for a Saturday afternoon wedding in March at the Thatched Cottage. There are definitely some fees on top of that, but I think we got a great price. I am also a teacher and we are taking our honeymoon at the end of June, the day after school ends!

Not sure the location you are looking for but we were married in Sept at the Meadowclub-sat night with a min of 75 ppl, smallest room, for around $75pp. Joe C really worked with us and our budget. The compliments from the wedding were non stop, everyone raved about the food and the wedding.
