Price for Alterations...

Original post by nraboni

What are you ladies paying to have your dress altered?

I went to a seamstress/dress maker last night and for everything that she is doing to my dress and bra she is charging $350...which I thought was pretty fair but I wanted to know what you ladies are paying.

TIA!

Mine cost $400. The dress is about 2 sizes too big, needs original hem and a French bustle. I thought this price was kind of obnoxious, but no one quoted me less than $350 for what I needed to get done. I went for the one for $400 because I trusted her a little more.

My alterations were 490. on the high side, but i think well worth it! My seamstress was great! I loved how my dress fit and looovvvved my bustle!

My cap was maybe 270 but it turns out that mine ended up costing $35. But, then I got cups sewn in and crystal buttons for my bustle so it was a little bit more than that.

Hi,

Most of the time I always have to get my dresses altered because I have a funny body shape and He always does great work. His prices are very reasonable! It's called DK Bridal in Jamaica, Queens. It's probably out of the way for many of you but it's worth it. As a matter of fact I just took my dress in today to get altered there and I thought it was going to be an arm and a leg and it wasn't!!!!

Happy Planning.
