What are you ladies paying to have your dress altered?
I went to a seamstress/dress maker last night and for everything that she is doing to my dress and bra she is charging $350...which I thought was pretty fair but I wanted to know what you ladies are paying.
TIA!

I have a cap of $295. + tax for my alterations. That does not include the bustle. I forget how much that it, but it depends what type I want.

i bargained on this and got everything included except the hem and bustle. hem will be $65 and the french bustle i want will be $95.
most places i spoke to said they had caps of $295 - $395, usually not including a bustle.

Re: Price for Alterations...
I just paid 150 for my bustle, that was the only alteration I had. So 350 sounds about right for all you are getting.

I got my dress at Kleinfelds and got alterations done there too their cap is 575 (I was quoted last's years price, so they honored it - it went up this year!) but that includes reconstructing the dress if I want to (which I dont), cleaning and pressing it

Re: Price for Alterations...
$350 is what I paid. And I needed A LOT of work. The dress turned out to be like 3 sizes too big, I changed the neckline, needed the bustle, added cups, etc. I thought it was a lot but she had to totally transform the dress for me.

Re: Price for Alterations...
I think my cap is 250 and my bustle is 125 for a straight pick up. I think that's a pretty good deal for me, since the top of my dress is going to need to be completely overhauled.

Re: Price for Alterations...
I got my dress at the Wedding Center of Commack, and that's where I'm getting alterations as well.
They have a cap of $200, but that doesn't include the french bustle - which is $150 more. Then I had to have 2 cups in each boob ::, so all together including tax, alterations are going to cost me $440....

Re: Price for Alterations...
I bought my gown from Priscilla of Boston in the city and my alterations cost me 700 bucks. No joke. 705 to be exact. That's more than half what I paid for my gown. I was p i s s e d but there was nothing I could do about it. So from my point of view 350 is pretty darned good!

Re: Price for Alterations...
Yeah...I was thinking $350 was fair. She has to take up the hem, do the bustle, reconstruct the bodice because it needs to be taken in and raised and she is also going adjust the neckline because she said the halter comes to high up and it looks like I am suffocating

Re: Price for Alterations...
My dress had to be taken in a lot because they ordered me too big a size in my opin and I lost weight. Length was perfect though. My seamstress works out of her house and only charged $150. THe bridal shop was going to charge me $350.
