I am going to be calling a seamstress tomorrow and asking about prices, but I wanted to know what to expect. What's the standard cost of making a bustle, taking in the bust, waist? I think that's all I need, so I just wanted to see what's average so that when she tells me what her prices are, I have something to base it on.

It really depends on how much stuff has to be done. Some places put caps on it. I've seen some girls on here pay $250 and some pay more than $700.

I paid $85 for a hem and a bustle. But then I went to a private seamstress who was less than the bridal shops charge

Depends on the place...
Mine was all capped but that adds up quickly!!!
My total was around $400!

I got screwed I think. They cap mine out at $250 but when I went for my first fitting, I didn't need any alterations. In addition to the cap, they charge for the bustle!!!!!! $150!!!! If I would;ve gotten a french, more!

Ok, thanks girls. I am going to a private seamstress so I assumed she would charge less than the shops - so $85 for a hem and bustle might meant that mine would cost no more than $200, as I think I need a bustle and bust alternations, maybe waist... I do not think I need a hem as I bought shoes that seemed to look perfect with the length last time I tried it on (I've had it for over a year at my mom's).
