I am totally clueless about this - What is the average price of wedding cake per person? I have a quote, but have no idea if it's good or not.

I am paying about $5 a person - but the cake I am getting is very intricate - all the other places quoted me about 8-12 pp for the same cake - and the funny part is that the place I am using is MUCH better than that place - so if you are shopping around make sure you check out more than just a few places.

I depends alot on the shape, the type of icing (fondant is more) and the detail on the cake (sugar flowers, etc...) If you give me an idea of what it looks like, maybe I can help.
For this cake below I was quoted anywhere from $5.50-$15.00!!!! From places in Long Island and in the city.
babybride - that cake is Gorgeous!!! (I don't think I'd be able to cut it! ) The cake that I want is 4 tiers, they're circular, with an alternating diamond and pearl dot pattern on each tier. I was told that the icing and the diamond pattern are made from fondant. I actually got a quote of $2.75pp, but didn't know if it was high or not. After hearing your replies, it's sounding rather cheap!

For me a cake is included in my hall package, but it is very basic. Alot of the pictures they show you in the books there are extra add-ons. So I am currently pricing adding it on through them and adding it on from other bakeries which specialize in these intricate designs!

id think the place is included to make the cake would probably give a better price to add on verses a whole new cake...

I just found out that the chocolate ganache cake we wanted is $2,000 That's a little over $13 per person!! Needless to say we're NOT going with that cake anymore.

Yeah that is what I am hoping, but so far the flowers that they would add are not edible. So they are looking into what they can do. If not.... Who knows!!!!

My hall includes a cake in our package, but, of course, I fell in love with a picture of a cake which is going to cost me more. I've gotten prices from two bakeries so far. If I choose a bakery other than my hall's house bakery, they will give me a credit towards my cake.
