I recently went to pick out invites and my FMIL just got the price quote and it came out to be about $13 an invite, it seemed a little expensive to me, what do you girls think? It was only for 80 invites and I know that we will need more because we are inviting more then 160 people and hoping for 150 people

Re: price of invites
there are some people who are paying that much here but it is on the higher end of the invitation spectrum. do these invitations have a lot of bling on them?
oh also, if you get more invitations, the price per invite usually drops so that could also help you out.
and one more thing ... definitely order at least 10-20 EXTRAs ... your guest list will most likely grow unexpectedly at some point.

Re: price of invites
whaaatttt??? I think that is super expensive. Then again, I'm a 'budget bride' but still. $13/invite sounds insane to me. I would say $6 - $8 is pretty high also but that's probably the norm. I got my invites online from Birchcraft Invitations and I know for about 125 invites with response sets, it's about $330 including shipping. You should look at their website cause they have pretty invites and pretty much 30% cheaper than normal. Good luck!

Re: price of invites
some people are willing to spend that and some others are not.....I know many people who feel its a waste........mine are on the higher end (thanks to joanna who suggested this company) and I know people tell me 'its just paper, people will throw it out' but its what I want and I am paying around the $10 per invite range when all is said and done.....
do what makes you happy!
ETA: I LOVE them and was exactly what I was looking for.....HTH!

Re: price of invites
there is a little bit of bling like 4 crystal jewels but that is it, I do love them and we are not paying for them my FMIL is but she never gave us a budget and she was there when we designed them. I am definitely ordering way more I figured I would order about 100 because that is what I did for the engagement party and save the dates. I mean FILS are really only paying for the invites and the band so I didn't think this price would have bothered them but who knows

Re: price of invites
yeah mine came out to 12.50 or some crap lol but i love them! if your budget allows for it i would get them, but you can definitely find invites for way cheaper, may be not the same ones but i would say to look around and see if you like anything else....
and 80 invited for 150 people sounds right, couples/families/etc each get one invite....you should get an extra 10 just incase,

Re: price of invites
Okay for me that is expensive considering I paid for my DIY invites only $9.99 for 50 invites. Of course it did not include cards for reception, directions, andhotel info, and I bought colored outer envelopes, some bling and colored ribbon too, I paid in total about $80. For 50 invites, I paid roughly $1.60 for each invite.

Re: price of invites
If it's what you want, and more importantly, your buget allows for it, go with them. We splurged on these beautiful letterpress invites - i think like $16 an invite or something. Sure, I know people will throw them out, but we fell in love with them and were able to work it out, so we got them.

I don't know what we paid for invite but I would have to say that if you love them and can afford them, do it! Yes, some people might throw it away but it's the FIRST thing that people will see to start the way the wedding is going to go. You're only going to do this once so do whatever makes you happy!
