prices for hair/makeup

I am looking into hair and makeup for myself and 2 girls as well as family, I am noticing that the prices are pretty high especially when you add it up for everyone!.........I dont mind paying but dont want to feel like I am overpaying!.........So I have 2 questions for everyone
1. Has anyone negotiated on the price, or is this not done in this industry
2. Without quoting prices specificlly. Is $50 per service per person reasonable

I agree - the prices are crazy!

Im being charged $100 for hair, $100 for makeup for the bride and $75 for hair, $75 for makeup for everyone else.

Are you having someone come to your house and if so are they travelling far. I live in Westchester but I'm getting ready in Queens so everyone I'm checking out is in the Westchester area and they have to travel to Queens. Their quoting me anywhere from $150-$200 for makeup for bride and about $100 for everyone else. I'm wondering if it's more expensive because they have to travel.

Thanks for the feedback! Thats about the prices I was being quoted to travel to my house in bethpage, $150 for me and $130-$150 for everyone else. It just seemed high to me at first! But if that is the average, at least I dont feel like I am overpaying!

That is NOT the average. I think that's high. I work in the salon industry, and even to travel, you can find people for $100 and under. Can I suggest someone? I feel like a broken record cause I always recommend her, but I know her prices are more reasonable than that. Her name's Denise, the salon's in Huntington, she's about $80 to travel- less for BM's, etc. (516 241 9805). Good luck!
