Prices for photography and video

Hello ladies,
can someone give me an idea of what a photographer and videographer costs? I know there are many different price ranges based on the quality and types of packages, but I am just looking for a general price range.

My FH and I are beginning the hunt for a photographer and video guy, and we just want to have an idea so we can determine if a compnay is overpriced, too cheap for a reason, etc..

Unfortunately trying to pinpoint a price for photo and video is like asking what are the prices of homes in NY.

Depends what you get and who you get. You can spend $1000 and you can spend $10,000 for either service. Just like anything you get what you pay for but there will be companies that givve you more for your buckk than others.

The best way to go about it is to know what you can spend for each and then start shopping.

References, references, references!!!!

I cannot stress that enough. Once you find somenone in your budget, they should be able to provide samples of their work. If they don't or can't, walk away. Also ask what type of equipment they use. Write down the model number and you can search online to see if they are using pro gear or a wal-mart camera.

If you have a wedding planner they should have a list of vendors they have worked with in the past.
