Pricey FG Dresses

Pricey FG Dresses

I need your opinions...

My friend is marrying my future brother in law next august. I am a bridesmaid, my daughter is a flower girl and FI is the best man. My friend is not paying a thing for her wedding so she really has no concept of money. She has picked a flower girl dress for $400 for my daughter. We have 6 weddings next summer/ early fall and our own, which we are paying for on our own. Am I crazy for thinking $400 is way too much for a flower girl dress? what do you guys think? she knows we are strapped for money, between rent, our daughter and the wedding, how else do I tell her to find something else? HELP PLEASE!

And here I am trying to keep my BM dresses under $150 and FG dresses under $50-$75. That is TOO MUCH for a FG dress...especially considering she will grow out of it. Did you mention anything to her about the price?

Hell yeah, it is made out of gold or something?

I definitely think you can find something beautiful for a much cheaper price!

That's the thing. I was in the same situation a few yrs ago with my cousin and spent that much for a FG dress and told my friend that I would never do that again. She says she absolutely fell in love with the FG dress. My BM for her wedding is close to $300. She has no concept of money.

I wouldn't even want my girls to pay that much for their BM dresses. I'd feel bad to have them pay much more than $200. That is way too much for a flower girl dress that she will grow out of in no time. Now if she wants you to spend that much, you should tell her that she needs to split the cost with you. I think in this case it is a perfectly reasonable request.

That is ridiculous - too too much. I wouldn't even ask my BM to spend that much!

I would level with her and tell her that with your wedding and general expenses you really don't have $400 to spend on a FG dress (esp. since you and FH are also in the wedding!). There are tons of beautiful FG dresses for WAY less!

That's way too much, especially for something they will grow out of. I would try to speak to her about the dress, or maybe have FI discuss it with his brother?

wow that is a bit much- you can just say to her nicly that you feel that is alot of $$ to spend on a dress that she will most likley only be able to wear one time

Re: Pricey FG Dresses

I agree that is ALOT of money for a FG dress!!! Why don't you offer to take the picture of the dress she likes and see how much it would cost to have the same identical dress custom made? I bet its less then $100

That insane especially since she will probably never wear this thing again since children grow so fast..tell her you feel this is way too much money for a dress

where could I have that done?

Re: Pricey FG Dresses

i would just straight up tell her that you can't afford it and tell her the price range that you can afford... otherwise she can pay for the dress herself or find another flowergirl!

Thats totally insanely too much!!
How much is the BM dress going to be!!
Tell her she needs to get real about the costs of things for other people.

Re: Pricey FG Dresses

LMAO!!!!
Is she F*cking kidding me? Excuse my language.
I'd tell her straight up that it's NOT happening!!!!

Is she out of her mind???

You have no clue how heated I am right now, if I had her number I'd call her up and go off!!!!

$400 for a frigin dress on a little girl????
A dress she will wear for a couple of hours????
Oh heck no!!!!
That is just ridiculous! Does she not have any concept of money. Not even that. It's just NOT necessary. And if she wants the dress that bad, then she can buy it herself, or pay for most of it.

My daughter is 5 and the day I buy her a 400 dress..........

$400 is buying her school clothes and them some.
Obviously this Bride is not a Mom. The day she becomes one she'll realize how ridiculous she is being.

I say HECK NO!!!!

www.gownfind.com

My daughter's dress was 85 bucks. Sold at bridal Salons for 120.

My BM's dresses were 95 bucks sold in Bridal Salons for 140.

Phyliss at gownfind is the best.

Re: Pricey FG Dresses

That's way too much money for a flower girl dress. There are so many beautiful dresses for the girls for way less than that. Can you talk to her and let her know this is just too expensive? Maybe let her know that if she insists on your daughter wearing the $400 dress then she's going to have to help pay for it.

I could just hear my mom say, in a very LI Jewish housewife voice, 'What do you need to spend $400 on something the kid is just gonna pish in?' Not that she is judgemental or anything

Re: Pricey FG Dresses

Definitely way too much money! I would tell her nicely that maybe you could look for something a little less expensive. I am hoping to get my flowergirl's dress for less than $100.
