For the girls who have been here to try on dresses, how was your experience? What sales lady did you have and would you recommend her? Thanks.

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
I used the POB in manhattan for my wedding gown and I LOOOOOVE my consultant Ayanna. She's amazing, patient, accommodating - all rave reviews for all of the POB NYC location.
When POB was in Roslyn, I went there looking for BM dresses and the experience was awful. No one was helpful, made you feel like you were a bother to them. No one even tried to create a personal or special experience.
If the same staff is at the manhasset location, I would be skeptical to try it out, but definitely try NYC for great great service. The manager Eliana let me sneak in and try on my gown without an appt once just because i was in the area and wanted to see 'my baby' again!

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
thanks for your response. I actually went to the manhasset store once with a friend, and I didn't have a great experience. But I thought it might be different if I get a difference sales lady, so I was hoping someone could recommend a salesperson they had a good experience with. I'm going to try a bunch of stores first on long island with my mom and then in the city.

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
I got my dress at POB when it was in Roslyn and my experience was great! It was actually my first time going to look at dresses and I ended up purchasing my dress that day. The sales girl that helped me no longer works there, but Debbie has become my sales person (I believe she is a manager and she was helping the other sales girl the day I bought my dress). My BM's more recently purchased all their dresses at the Manhasset store and again we had a really great experience. Everyone is always helpful and accommodating.

I actually went there on friday after work for my DOJ. The sales lady made it VERY obvious that I was annoying her and that she had NO desire to help me. Its not like I got there 5 mins b/f they closed. I would never recommend anyone to go there.

yeah I had a similar experience. Maybe I shouldn't go back, but I was thinking maybe it'd be different if I got a different sales lady, and the dresses are very nice. Is there a specific sales lady that I can ask for who is very helpful?

Did you have an appt? I bought my dress from there and worked with Marlene...love her!

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
yes I did have an appointment. I actually had Marlene as well. I'm not saying she's not a nice lady. She asked me my budget, I said 4000 would be max, I think. I said I'm mostly interested in mermaid style, but I'd like other suggestions as well. She said mostly they don't have 'Tight' dresses there and in her opinion isn't as bridal looking. There was one mermaid style in the store but she said it was over my budget (which I'm confused by, because the website said it was between 3500-4000) and without making other suggestions she basically said maybe this isn't the store for you. Again, not saying she isn't a sweet older lady, but I think a salesperson could have been more helpful and maybe it would have been a different experience.

If you had a bad experience at Priscilla of Boston in Manhasset, I would recommend The Wedding Salon of Manhasset. They carry a lot of POB gowns and they are so nice there! My sales lady was Rosemary and she was super sweet and helpful. They have a great selection.
Good luck!

In defense of of Priscilla of Boston in Roslyn, I had a very pleasant experience with them. I dealt with Felicia whom I found very patient and helpful. The seamstress I worked with at my first fitting was great. We also got my BM's dresses there and they had no problem. Just make sure you have an appointment with them, no walk-ins.

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
I had a terrible experience there- I left the salon in tears. The sales lady completely humiliated me. I don't want to get into the details- FM for more info. But, I do think everyone has different experiences at salons, so I think it's best to make appointments at a bunch of different places to find the right 'fit' for you.
* edit: it was the POB in Roslyn

Love my dress but hated the experience. We had Felicia also and she was...just OK. She was no help after my dress arrived and was short with us when we had questions for her about alterations. It's like they wanted to make the sale and get us out of there.
Also, we didn't stay there for alterations and am glad we didnt. Saved a bundle and my dress looks fab!

It's amazing how every one can have such totally different experiences at the same place. I agree with the above poster and go to various places and find the right fit for you. Two places that friends were raving about I walked out real quick I did not connect with the sales help.

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
I went for the sample sale and there was no one else in the store. This was when they just moved so I didnt see anyone there when we walked in. Then I saw the lady upstairs and she clearly knew we were there but could not take a second to look over and say May I help you.
We obvious;y were waiting on someone and she could care less. we went wondering around downstairs too until we finally went upstairs on her own and stood right next to her and still she said nothing to us!!!!!
Yea i didn't necessarily care for her attitude

I was at POB in Manhasset this weekend and I have to say that the experience was pleasant enough. My bridesmaids and I worked with Kathy and she was very very nice and patient!

Re: Pricilla of Boston in Manhasset
I bought my dress at POB -
First, I'll go with the positives...
Debbie is wonderful - so very helpful and just a really nice woman. I was fortunate enough to deal with her most of the time
Alterations -Josephine is a dream - so nice and willing to do anything to make you happy
Technically I dealt with Joanne who I would not recommend, but it's a very long story.
Now, the negatives - there are several woman there that are just unpleasant - I don't even think they mean it...it's almost like they can't help it.
I fell in love with my dress, so I felt kind of stuck but they really pulled through. I ended up needing to rush my dress and they did everything they had to do to get it in time and do the alterations quickly. I also ordered my birdcage veil four weeks before my wedding, and while I had to pay a rush fee, I had it in a week.
