Pricing question

Ladies, how do you go About talking a venue down in price? I need some tips since I'm not good at bargaining. And have you found that all halls will negotiate their price a little ?
Thanks!

Re: Pricing question

RH: the price is $$$
You: oh, that's a little out of budget, anything we can do about it?
RH: we can knock it down to $$ if you have a minimum of ### people
You: oh, that'd be great ... but that's still a little high for us ... maybe you guys can throw in something for free so I don't have to add upgrades?
RH: ok - how about a free ____ and ____?
You: sounds good, where can i sign?

you can ask to have things added, to have certain fees waived (we go the $500 fee to have the ceremony at our RH waived), and obviously to lower the per person price

good luck

that sound sgood...but make sure you have your numbers in your head before you meet with them
ex: if you plan to guarantee 150 people tell them 100 and when they say the price is xx per person say what if we make our guarantee 150 can you drop the price.

I agree with PP.

This is good info to know. I've been telling them the real # of people. I will have to change that going forward.

ITA... or vice versa with the guarantee of people. We got our venue to go from 200 guarantee to 175 and that made a big difference

definitelyhave the numbers in your head. a price per person you want to spend even. when we met with the halls, every hall went down a little bit. the onc we were really interested in we ended up negotiating a little more than others though. you keep talking until you get something you are okay with.

my fh did most of the bargaining on that one.. i suck at it... I am the one to say ok when they tell me a price and not bother to talk em down haha

DEF... say less!!! So many girls are not reaching their minimum!I We said quite a bit less. We ae inviting 230 and have a minimum of 175, I know we are all good with that! :)

I wish I negotiated a bit more... but oh well! We got a few extras thrown in.. we paid for viannese and they threw in a chocolate fountain + our cake is included. They also gave us a martini bar and fresh mozarella station where someone will be making it right there

Re: Pricing question

i found the best way to talk halls down is to pin 2 RHs against each other

wait until you are ready to book...go to that hall, and compare them to another hall that is similar in style and price range

tell them we are trying to decide between you and ABC

but ABC is 10 dollars less per person AND they are giving us X Y Z (whatever is important to you)
giving us more CH stations, giving us dessert station, martini bar, etc whatever it is that you are looking to add on

we found this to work for us on more than one occassion since we booked a hall, cancelled and then finally booked the hall we have now lol

after you get a good PP price, then you can negotiate prices on other things

like we really want a VH but cant do 12 per person, can you do it for 8

you will be suprised how much halls will come down and throw things in.

Re: Pricing question

I found that they would bring down the price if you brought up the guarantee number. Then get stuff thrown in, bc they ALL will throw stuff in!
