Pricing with the venue

Going to meet with a guy this Sunday for the venue I really want. I see a lot of Brides here say that their venues worked with their pricing, got them to their budgeted price and gave add ons.

Was curious how you go about working the venue down on price? I haven't heard of outrageous prices for this venue yet but I would like to see if I could work them down a bit. Any help in how to address the pricing?

Re: Pricing with the venue

We just told them that we were on a budget and the guy had asked what our price range per person was and we told them our price range which was max 110/115. He told his that he could work with us. Also going in there we told him we had a low min of 100 people and he was able to work with us on that as well. But he also said that if we got to 110 people he would be able to drop the price 10 dollars per person. but if we wanted 3 mini upgrades that would add to 10 dollars per person we would get that instead of the dollar amount off. In the end we may not even want the upgrades because that venue had so much to offer.

I don't know your price range or taste on venues, but we met with Bob from Watermill and he was great!

Good Luck!

Pricing with the venue

After going to a bunch of venues we went back to the place we loved and sat down with the banquet manager. We told him that we went to a bunch of places and still really loved this place but the price we were getting from other venues were lower and if there was any way that he can come down with the price per person! We are getting married at Jericho Terrace, which normally gives an option of 9 entrees, we asked if we bring that down to 4 options and would that lower the cost... and he said no problem!! He went down about $8 PP, added on an extra hour, a martini bar gave us a bigger room!! It also helped that when we went it was about 10 months before our wedding date so I'm sure they were worried about not filling up summer weekends when it was less than a year away!!

Pricing with the venue

Wow! This is some great information. I didn't really know how to approach the man to see if we could get the price down a little. We (mostly me) is really keeping fingers crossed. We're looking at the Atlantis Aquarium. I know I spoke to one girl who said for Labor day weekend she got a pretty good rate and that's a holiday weekend (im looking at a Friday or sat but were thinking Friday evening more or less) .. My guest list is small we only have about 150 people. Maybe I can work with them both ways because another bride said she got married there a while back and they told her that they could do any budget from 60 to 130pp.. Fingers crossed sundays weather stays nice long enough to SET THE DATE!

Pricing with the venue

when we first sat down with our venue we made it very clear that the price made us uncomfortable (and the minimum of 175 when we wanted 150). They couldn't do anything for us price-wise I guess because fox hollow does so well, they know they'll book that date even if I walked out. So to make it easier to swallow, they offer us add-ons.. Some a lot of people get offered and some we chose. So they gave us about $3K in add-ons which made it a little easier to swallow. We were very aggressive, and they just wouldn't budge.

Pricing with the venue

Interesting to note. I am looking at the Atlantis and when I called he said the price could go anywhere from 95-129.99 then I got a message from a bride that when she booked they worked with her budget anywhere from 70pp to 130pp.. so I was just trying to formulate ways to try to get them lower in case they start too high. He said he couldn't give me an exact number over the phone until I came in to meet with him and discussed specifics.

So thank you all for the advise - maybe I'll take a bunch of your methods and piece them together HAHA

Pricing with the venue

My fiance and I played it by ear when we met with vendors. We only negotiated with the place we loved. It didn't really feel like true haggling because from the beginning they were open to negotiation. Which made The Venetian for us even better. I think you just have to get a feel for who you're working with. If you love the place, go for it and haggle them down.
