priest from hell
I juts had the worst experience with a priest ever. He was so inattentive and extremely judgmental. my fiance and I have a six year difference and I am a bit young so he had to comment, though by the time we get married I would already be getting my masters degree. But the clincher was that he made a point of saying how hard of a life our children are going to have. I am African American and my fiance is Italian American. I am just so stunned that he was so rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - I'm really sorry!
How awful!! Your children will be so lucky to have two loving parents!! Don't listen to that priest!
You are using someone else for your ceremony, yes?

Re: priest from hell
He wasn't very nice!!! I had a bad experience with my first priest. He was forgetful. Extremely. So I switched to the church where I did my First Communion and everything is pretty good. You aren't using him are you?

Re: priest from hell
I absolutely will but, that is my fiance's childhood church, his parent, aunt, and grandmother was married at that church. I will just feel a bit weird that we go back and speak with another priest in the same parich, but he was too rude, i could not have him conduct our ceremony.

Re: priest from hell
Shame on him! He needs to go to Confession!! Does FH feel the same way? Maybe you can both talk to his family about going to another church. If they're completely accepting of your differences then they'll understand.

Re: priest from hell
Sweetie, That is disgusting and you need to report him immediately. Is is a Catholic Church? If so report him to the Arch Diocese (sp)of Rockville Center. They are the head of all Catholic Church's here on LI. I would also write a very long letter to him and cc the Bishop at the Arch Diocese as well.If you feel that this is your FI's family church then do it confidentialy or anynomously.
Shame on him!!!!!!

Re: priest from hell
If you really want to get married in that church then I would speak to another priest their and just tell him the conversation that happened with the other priest. Ask him to please perform the ceremony or recommend someone else. How dare someone be so judgemental. Was he trying to give you a feel for what others might comment? This is 2003. He needs to join the century. What a blessing it will be for your children to have such great diversity in their life! The joining of wonderful cultures is what made this country so great!
Good Luck!

Re: priest from hell
Don't have him marry you no matter what!!! We learned too. When the priest asked us if our parents were married, and we told him no (both sets are divorced) he said we most likely dont have a fighting chance.... Believe that? We were getting married in Babylon at the time, and wound up getting married West Hempstead, St. Thomas the Apostle. We had Msgr. Lasante. He was awesome. He reminded of Michael Keaton, was so down to earth. We laughed a lot during our ceremony. He also married my husband's cousin, who is from that parish, so we got lucky. But, I don't know where you are located, call him and tell him what happened, and he would be happy to help, I'm sure. Definately report that priest though. That is way out of line.Welcome New Vendors
