I am sorry that the priest upset you by saying what he said. This must have been a difficult subject for you and your fiance. The only reason why I am saying that is because my fiance and I are two different religions and it was stressful dealing with how we are going to raise our children.

As for your children, they will be picked on about anything no matter what. That is what kids do. Kids are cruel.

If you want my advice, take this experience and learn from it. Don't dwell on the fact that he was rude or politically incorrect, because the truth is what counts here. You and your fiance obviously love eachother and with that love, you both will raise your children to be open minded amongst many other things. I wouldn't worry about what the priest said. Yes, it will be tough BUT you will cross that bridge when you get to it. LIFE is difficult but we all deal with it. Enjoy this time. You both deserve it.
