So my friend just loaded her e-pics onto Snapfish and selected the Pick-Up option. She got to the drugstore to pick them up and they refused to give them to her. They said that they're professional photos and it's illegal for them to give them to her.
Poor thing is so upset. What's the point of owning the rights if she can't print them? I'm dreading this happening to me.
Has anyone had this happen?

WHAT!!! That's insane..if you own the rights can't you print them wherever you want? Who gives the photo person the right to tell you no?

She told him that she owned the rights. Ready for what she said he told her? He told her that he'd need to see a notarized letter from the photographer granting her rights to reproduce the photos. Apparently he takes his minimum wage job very seriously.

bring your paperwork to the store and show them you own the pictures. If they give you a hard time have them call the photographer.

Yes they need ot see a letter from the photographer that shot the pictures. It sounds weird but it's copyright laws. Even though she has all the rights, how would the employee know she is telling the truth?

LOL, I'm pretty sure she's no longer welcome there. From what she told me, she'll have to go elsewhere.

Nope, nothing on them. It was from the CD the photographer gave her so she could print what she wanted.

She said the guy called the manager over. They both refused to give her the photos. I think she's just going to order them from somewhere else once she calms down. I was just really taken aback since one of the things we all look for when we hire photographers is that we're given the rights to the photos...and then this happened.

I did this, I got a letter from my photographer to say that I could print the photos. It was actually my photographers idea, he gave them to me when when I got the digital files. No one has asked to see it yet though

i would have gotten the photog on the phone immediatly and made them speak with these idtios... and then called customer service at snapfish or whatever she used and said im not paying either
that is just nuts, but at that point it might be easier to go somewhere else, instead of dealing wiht people who dont want to give you their business
