My photographer took beautiful shots, but I am disappointed by the editing. We got the smallest package with two cds - one edited (has 505 pictures -its supposed to be the collection of the best and most useable) and the unedited (those 505 plus a bunch more for a total of 1300) no album or anything. i went though everything -so much fun!! will post soon.
My vent:
There are about 88 excellent pictures that I feel are worthy of the edited bunch 'supposed to be the best ones' but they are actually useable imo so i guess it does not need to be edited - but i wonder what these photos potential could be if they were edited..
There is not much difference in the edited and unedited versions- slight change of lighting?
My friend used Dan Wagner and he edited the pictures perfect! He took out garbage in the room, a hand bag that shouldn't have been there, exit signs, ect I have all this stuff in my photos. My street has that tree fungus? stuff on all the roofs that its like dark discoloration and it spreads to al the houses' roofs from the wind - i feel that should have been edited out.
I guess there are not too many changes that need to be made in total. should i just have my husband fix them? he knows how.
In the edited bunch there are pictures of people with their eyes closed and i thought that was my luck and it was the best of the bunch he took but when i went to the unedited cd i found the same picture with everyone's eyes open! why edit the wrong picture!?
I have enough to frame and make a beautiful album .. should i just remain as thrilled as i feel !!!

Honestly I would ask the photographer do the editing. You paid for the photos and they should deliver the quality you expect. talk it over with them and see what they can do.

Re: Pro Pics - happy but ...
i have come to the conclusion that we brides just cant win, if we micro manage too much we are 'bridezillas' and if we trust the 'wedding professionals' to do what we think is expected we get disappointed and upset and again 'bridezillas'
i think you should say something to them, and tell them what you wanted from the pictures and see what can be done.....a true professional should want to make you happy cuz a happy bride is a talking bride and in their line of work good references are everything....
good luck!!!!!

I would ask your photographer to do it. You paid a lot of money and your pics should look how you want them to look. Worse case they say no and then you have your husband do them. Good luck!!

usually edited pics are pics that the lighting is adjusted so that your flesh tones are not off and the picture is not too bright or dark and zits, blemishes are gone. I would agree eyes should be open unless he only took one shot and didn't have another shot to refer to in order to make the eyes opened.
Now as far as bags, moss on the street, etc - that is stuff you need to request because that is beyond just a slight correction.
I would mention it, say you were expecting more.

I guess I was going just by my other friend who had a different photographer so I assumed that 'editing' was more than what Duet did but if editing is just lighting then Duet did that but I saw other pics that were unedited that i want too .. .but i like as is but maybe it could be better...
hmm...i might need to start a new poll...

very true. Edited pics mostly are about lighting and maybe doing b&w pics, sepia pics and some use SOME special effects.
But yeah they have no control over actual things that are in the pics. If there is moss on the street, then usually most are not going to edit that out or edit out bags and that sort of stuff. This would be something that a photographer would need to be told bc otherwise i dont see most photographers just doing this.

IMO, it all comes down to money. Dan Wagner's pictures were amazing but his price was too high for us. We really wanted to use them, but could not afford it. We went with someone else a lot cheaper, found out they are a scam and lost $900 and now have a photographer that has been in business for 30 yrs and is more reasonable in price with a pymt plan that worked for us. We wil see next week about the quality.

We're going with Dan Wagner. We had so many reasons for choosing him, that it's hard to know where to begin. One of the reasons is that Dan told us he spends a full day editing all the photos. He also brings a lighting assistant. I agree Dan's photos are amazing. But I don't think he's expensive. Most of the places we checked out charged more, offered less, and the photos weren't as nice. I was on Dan's blog today, and he already has a photo preview from a wedding he shot yesterday. I don't think he sleeps!!!!!
