My mother and I had started talking again. Sort of I had asked her to come over to my apartment to look at what I have bought for the wedding, invitations, registry cards, shawls and other stuff. I thought our relationship was on the mend after this well apparently not. The next day I had gotten an e-mail from her that was intended for someone else but the kicker was this e-mail was about me and the stuff i bought for the wedding. The things she said were negative and upset me. What should I do? Should I just be quiet or should I confront her about it? I have been upset about it since i got the e-mail.

wow that's horrible! I'm so sorry you're going through that. I would absolutely confront her, if you don't you're going to have it in the back of your mind forever, I for one hate confrontation but always feel better getting things off my chest and telling someone how I really feel....good luck

Re: Problem
that's terrible Courtney....so sorry that you had to read that. I have no idea what the dynamic of your relationship is but I would probably tell her. That would probably be the last time (at least for a while) that I would share any of my plans with her. This is a happy time for you both!

Re: Problem
Well she is your mother after all, you should tell her that you're upset by the email. She can see that she accidentally sent it you, so there's no sense in you both ignoring that it happened. I would talk to her about it, don't keep things bottled up inside.

I'm so sorry you saw that and it put a damper on your work. Do your best to not let it get you down, and be prideful of the fact that you were trying to mend the relationship.
Whether or not it was an accident, that stinks that it hurt your feelings but the decision to confront her may come from what you're looking to gain. If you think it wil only continue to hurt you, then don't because you may only feel worse. But if you really feel the need to tell her what you think, write it down as if you were writing her a letter that way you can gather all your thoughts in a way that is not attacking but gathers everything you're trying to say.

Re: Problem
Def let her know that you read that email and you're feeling hurt. It makes me VERY upset when people are having their own emotional issues about your wedding and then have negative and unloving krap to say.... Im sorry that she's behaving this way. My mom died a few yrs ago and she was my best friend so it really strikes a nerve when a mom could be hurtful. I get it, we are all human, but having a daughter thats getting married is not something that should be taken for granted.

That SUCKS...I would most definately tell her about it !!!
Or even just email it back to her & say something like you sent this to me by mistake so she feels like a complete idiot that you saw it!
So sorry to hear this

Re: Problem
Sorry you are going through this. Definitely tell her how you feel because this is your mother. A person that will always be a part of your life even though I don't know the relationship between you two. I don't know what she said but maybe she has different tastes or wished that she was more part of the planning and had to say those mean things.

Re: Problem
thanks girls my relationship with my mother is not a good one because over the years she has just not cared about my college experience and have not helped me out with school or anything else. She is also married to a jerk who cares even less ( my step dad). My mom also thinks that it is a mistake that i am even getting married so it makes it all worse. So if i was not trying to mend the relationship i would not care too much but for the sake of my wedding and trying to mend our relationship i wanted her involved a little but i just got hurt in the process.

I am sorry about that Courtney.
If I were you I would respond to the message and say 'I am assuming that you did not mean to send this to me and you should probably forward it to the person you intended!'
But then again that is me being passive aggressive!

I am so sorry to hear this!
I agree with Kerri and Mara, I would forward the email back to her, I think she would feel like a total moron when she realizes she sent it to you in error... and then if you want to you can discuss it with her.

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with this....I think you took a positive step in inviting your mother over and trying to involve her in your wedding....I think I would give her a call and tell you that you received that email by mistake, and that you are upset by it. Explain yourself, and try asking why she is so negative when it comes to all of this...
Good luck

Re: Problem
Sorry that you had to read those hurtful comments. If you're trying to re-connect with your mom and have had a bit of rocky past, I would def. confront her about it. Tell her how it hurt your feelings after you were trying to reach back out to her and involve her.

I'm so sorry to hear about what you are going through. It must hurt to see what your mom said about you and your plans. especially since your so excited about everything! this wedding is about you and ur FH and she is allowed to have bad feelings as u have bad feelings about her husband or your (step dad) I'm sure he is a jerk but Perhaps she is jealous of your relationship... from the looks of it , you are VERY Happy.. and maybe she is jealous that you found someone to be there for you emotionally..

Re: Problem
Im so sorry to hear this and that you are struggling with your relationship with your mom.
I definitely think you need to talk to her. This should be a happy time for you and she should be there to support you, not to make you feel bad.
We are all here for you whenever you need us!!!

I'm so sorry that happened! I would absolutely talk to her about it. Just let her know that you got the email and that you were really hurt by what it said. For one thing she shouldn't be talking badly about you behind you back. Also, perhaps she doesnt agree with the style of the wedding or maybe some decorations that you picked out but let her know that thats just what you like, and maybe she doesnt like that stuff and thats ok with you. But in the end your marrying the guy you love and thats really all that matters to you in the end. Tell her you hope she can have more honest conversations about stuff like that rather then her talking about it with someone else. It also might be good to just not show her all the tiny details if shes going to be negative. I know that sucks but in the end it will probably save you a lot of un needed stress.
Hugs i hope everything works out!

Re: Problem
aw, sorry to hear this personally, i would address the issue head on! i would tell her that she accidentally forwarded you the email and you were very hurt to read her true feelings about your plans and feel betrayed that she would talk about you (her daughter!) in such a negative way!!!!
