FH and I have been engaged for 6 months now, and I have a beautiful e-ring that I absolutely love. It is a Leo Schachter diamond and on the inside of the band it says MY LEO and the little O is another Leo diamond. Well, I had to have it sized a little when I first got it, and they lost the diamond on the inside, but I had just gotten it and didn't want them to keep the ring for a month until it was fixed (they cut the little diamond to match the big one, supposedly). So I brought it in tonight to get cleaned and I figured, why don't I have them replace it. And they were like, oh, it's only going to fall out again, Iwouldn't bother. I am really POed! FH paid for a ring that was made a certain way, and there was no mention of that diamond as a temporary fixture, so I want it. But now I am thinking, oh, maybe it's not worth it. What should I do? ShouldI make a stink and make them put it back in? They were the ones who lost it. I'm really on the fence with this for some reason. They will have my ring for aprox. a month!!!

Yes, you should def. stick with it. He PAID for that diamond! They owe it to you. I'd actually speak with the owner/manager and tell them that you were told it would 'only fall out again'. They will prob. be mortified and do anything you want to fix the situation. If they don't I'd raise holy hell...if it were me. Oh, and it'll be worth it to have it gone a month, otherwise everytime you see the back of your ring you'll think about it....and if you wait too long they may not do it for you.

It was the MANAGER who told me it's not worth it! I am going to go back tomorrow, I'm so mad!

I agree! You should have that diamond! That is what made the ring special enough for him to want you to have it! Why do they need it for a month? Why can't they order it and call you to bring the ring back when it comes in? You are not supposed to leave your big diamond anyway- they are supposed to take it out for you if you have to leave the ring.

Also- if it was the manager, ask to speak to the district manager if it is a chain store, or the owner. That is BS!!!

'Supposedly' the little diamond is cut to match my big one EXACTLY. So if it is a big enough deal that it needs to match my diamond exactly, when why were they telling me not to bother? Hmm, could it be because it's going to cost them more money?Gee, I wonder!

Which branch did you go to? I have a LEO too and we got it at the one in Broadway Mall - I had the band changed and they put the little diamond inside as an O in 'LOVE' (FH's idea) and they only had it for a week.

I'm in Massachusetts They totally S*CK here! I like the idea about the LOVE instead of Leo! I am so inlove with this ring, I just think it's the most sparkly thing I've ever seen! I wish I didn't have to hand it over!

I love mine too, they're super-sparkly Seriously though, they shouldn't have it for more than 7-10 business days.

Re: Problem with E-Ring :(
stick with it.. i worked for a jewelers and if the little stones came out, they would have to replace it, if it falls out again.. then maybe you should consider not to keep putting it in

Re: Problem with E-Ring :(
Since the stone came out when they were sizing it, I would not assume that the stone would pop out again on its own. It is their fault the stone came out, or so they claim, they might have just taken the stone out to use again for something else, you never know. In any case, they have to pay for the new stone so of course they are going to discourage you from replacing it. I would be very wary about going back to the jeweler for everything, and take a good look at all the diamonds before you give it back to them so that when you get it back you will be able to notice if the other stones were replaced.

Re: Problem with E-Ring :(
If its a Chain, can you go to another one? Or at least get it in writing what they did when they resized it..and if it is going to fall out again, then tell them you want that diamond and somehow you can incorporate it into your Wedding band? Mine says 'LOVE' on the inside with the O as a diamond too..and there was no problems when it was resized...these rings are designed with that inside to be able to size them...they screwed up...KEEP ON THEM!

Definately go back - that is CRAP - you are even allowed to become a BRIDEZILLA to get it.
Definately take out the diamond - DO NOT leave it with them under any circumstance - they will switch it even if they say they won't. No matter what, don't leave your diamond there!!!!!!!!
When you go their make sure that they put the same quality diamond in as your e-ring (get it in writing) and then when you get it back, make sure that it is the quality they promised.
I never trust jewelers, they are very shady sometimes!!!!!!!!

Re: Problem with E-Ring :(
From what I heard from people who own these chains, the diamonds are VERY prone to fall out from the inside of the setting. The companies are ****y about putting them back because they know they will fall out again. It's basically a gimick to get you to buy the band or settingwhile the workmanship in shady. It just ticks me off that they do that!!!!!!!
Ask them to bezel set it. It won't fall out then

Re: Problem with E-Ring :(
FH bought my ring from Kay jewelers, and to be honest, this is the first problem we've had. I called another store and they said bring it in because that small diamond is part of the signature of a Leo ring. They were MUCH more helpful! So I am going to bring it in tomorrow to get fixed. I am not concerned about them switching diamonds because mine has a security number laser inscribed in it, and I registered it with the insurance company. I think it was just that branch. I find that whenever a woman helps me at a jewelry store, I get better service, and well, the other branch was all MEN! Figures!
