As most of you know, I had to postpone my wedding due to a death in the family. WELL, my BM dresses are David's Bridals separates in SeaMist Green. I have 3 BM's and they are all wearing different sets of this color.
One of my BM's is pregnant and will be 8 months at the time of the new wedding date. David's Bridal was great enough to let her take back her old dress and trade it in for a maternity one! YAY! Well, only problem is that they don't make SeaMist green in Maternity. THe other greens look weird next to it. Basically she had to choose a complimentary color - Victorian Lilac.
Problem: I HATE PURPLE. It was one of the few things that I told my florist NOT to include.
Anyway...do you think that if I just choose my regular Boo-K and just have them add a bow that matches her dress on everyone's boo-k will be enough to tie it all together?
Also, this really kills the look of my same color, different dress approach....will this look totally bad now in pics???
ARGGH!! I LOVE MY BM AND DO NOT 'NOT' WANT HER IN MY WEDDING. SHE IS MY BEST FRIEND AND WILL DO ANYTHING I WANT.
PS. they also had a champagne dress and I was like 'Yeah, choose that' but she said next to the SeaMist 'the champagne looks like an aged prom dress (yellowish . . the coloring made me look half dead)'
Opinions PLEASE!! Here are the dresses as we speak:
I think that the lilac will look just fine in the pictures. Green and lilac do compliment each other really well -- much better than the champagne color would look with the green, IMO. I'm sorry that she has to go with a color that you dislike, but since this woman means a lot to you, I say stick with the lilac.

The only 2 choses for BM dresses are purple or champagne???? Do you like the champagne...could you maybe change all dresses to champagne???
I think the 2 colors look good together. Are the bouquests multi-colored??? If they are, and all BM's have the same bouquet that will pull it all together.
I know you don't like purple, but I think that is a really nice shade!!!!

The color choices were:
APPLE BLACK NAVY LAVENDER HAZE (very pale) - Looks Easterish CHAMPAGNE MISTY HAZE (very bright green) VICTORIAN LILAC
It truly was process of elimination. Nothing else works.

I think pale pink goes really nice with sea green.....but i dont even know if you have that option....

I think the Lilac will look great with the light green. Everyone will know it is because she is PG not because you guys are color blind. It will look great!!!!
I would add something in the bouquets in that color if I were you but you don't have to.

I like the green and purple together....is she a BM or the MOH...what color is your MOH wearing?? What about if JUST the BM have purple in their Boo-K's and you have your own boo-k. My boo-k was peach and ivory and my BM had hot pink flowers....we didn't mik up the 2 colors.

I like pink and green. My friend had sea faom green dresses with pink flowers....you cando similar for your Pregnant BM.

At this point it really doesn't matter, I think. She has a different dress, different color. She's either going to look like she's supposed to be the MOH or like she's not really part of the BP. I think I would do one of the following:
See if you can take some of the extra fabric from the green BM dresses and use that to change the color of the ribbon at the waistline of the lavendar maternity gown, AND do the lavendar ribbons on the bo-ks. That way they all have both colors.
OR:
Put one of the other BMs in the lavendar color also. That way you'll have two in the green and two in the lavendar. Put reverse ribbon colors on the bo-ks (lavendar ribbon on the bo-ks of the BMs with the green dresses & vise-versa). I think that would actually look pretty cool.
Don't put purple anywhere in your bo-k if you don't like it.

JMO - I don't like the color combos.
Based on the availability, I would go with navy & have the ribbon in seamist. JMO.

How large does the origional dress size come in? When I was in a wedding I was 7 months pregnant. I just told them to order the largest size & they said if need be they can add a panel (x-tra material) to the front. Turned out they had to take the dress in! (and I'm a plus size..It was a happy suprise) So she might just get away w. it that way.

The original dress is a 2 piece so I can't have her order it in a large size. The waist would never fit over an 8 month belly.
Navy is an okay idea, but I'm not sure if it'll work.
I definitely think that doing the ribbon around the BM's Bouquets will work. I had also though about the ribbon around the waist, but with the Lavender it would look stupid. Maybe with the navy.

i understand where you are coming from, as i dislike purple as well.
how tall is she? the reason why i ask is if she is the tallest or shortest BM she could probably get away w/ another dress entirely. she would either be the first up the aisle or the last before the MOH. if she is somewhere in the middle it may not look right though.
