Soooooooo..... FH and I are booked at the Westin Maui for our honeymoon. It was originally supposed to be the Hyatt Regency but I took went on a tip and booked the Westin. Now i'm seeing all these AWFUL reviews on trip advisor which are recent about bad customer service, black mold in the rooms, construction, etc etc. I told the travel agent, and she said she'd like to move us. Of course, now the Regency is booked. Our choices are the Fairmont, the Marriot, and the Sheraton. Anyone ever been to any of those hotels on Maui? Suggestions? Much appreciated!!!!!!!!

In my personal experience, Marriotts have *always* been great!

Re: Problems with Hawaii hotel
Agree- I've become somewhat of a snob when it comes to accomodations because I travel a lot for work.
Is it a Marriott Beach / Vacation Club? If so, the resorts I have stayed at were really nice. I've been to two, one in Oahu and one in Orlando (and I will be staying at the one in Kauai for our HM).
But, if you want something more upscale look into the Ritz(typically, owned by Marriott) - That is usually where I stay for business trips and it never disapoints.

If it's in your budget, check out the Four Seasons in Maui.

Re: Problems with Hawaii hotel
I stayed at the Westin in Maui last year, it was totally awesome. Stop reading reviews lol
The only other hotel Id recommend in Maui is the Hyatt--and even then I heard in Hawaii the Hyatt in Kuaui is really the place to be Hyatt wise.
I loved the Westin and the location is fantastic, don't worry. Search for my review, I have tons of pics.
PS The Four Seasons and the 'fancier' hotels are in a completley diff. section of Maui and much more secluded.

Re: Problems with Hawaii hotel
I stayed at the Westin Laui last year and it was gorgeous and clean- and i am a hotel snob so I am not just saying that. I've also been to the sheraton there and it is nice, but not as nice as westin. by the way there are two westins- the villas and the kaanapali beach resort. i stayed at the kaanapali beach resort so I cant speak on the villas. but if it is the westin kaanapali you already booked, you have nothing to worry about : )

If we could, we'd be staying at the Westin. But we're trying to keep it under 10,000 for 2 weeks, so we're staying at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort in Wailea-Makena.

They stayed at the Hyatt on the west side and the Maui Sunset on the south side.

Re: Problems with Hawaii hotel
we just got back from the sheraton maui - great hotel - every room had a great view. We did walk down to the westin - which had a great location close to shopping and restraunts - also close to catamaran tours....

I'm going to Maui too!!!! Cannot wait :) We are going to be staying at the Fairmont. I'm normally obsessive compulsive with planning vacations, but with all the wedding planning haven't had time. Our travel agent is FH's best friend's mother and has known him for years so I trust her opinion on this one. She said the Fairmont is great for a honeymoon.

Re: Problems with Hawaii hotel
Are you booking this yourself or using a travel agent? If you aren't using an agent I'd suggest going with one...They are relatively inexpensive (mine only charged $50) My travel agent is really experienced, has been in the business over 20 years and specializes in Honeymoons..I'll inbox you the contact information. Completely worth it to have a point of contact who knows brides/honeymoons. Worth the peace of mind!!

Re: Problems with Hawaii hotel
Does your travel agent have any reccomendations? Or maybe even referrals to other brides?
