Does anyone know if a Catholic church would let you choose your music? Something non-traditional? We would liek to use Enya's 'Only TIme'..Im thinking it would likly be a no...I hear some church's wont even allow 'here comes the bride'?

Re: processional music
Our church gave us the 'suggested' music list, but said they will play something that is not on the list. I think you should ask the music director of the church (that's who we have to give our music choices to).

I think this is something that varies from church to church. Given the churches I was a parishioner at growing up, I'd say they'd let you play a different song (after much scrutinization to ensure the song is not offensive to the church/religion/etc) for the processional. However, I wouldn't think it'd be possible during the mass/ceremony.

Re: processional music
My FH and I just came back from our church 'music session'. They gave us a list of what we should use and they are very strict! They told us that other couples have asked to have 'their songs' or other choices and that unless the songs are religious they won't allow it....
However, one of my girlfriends got married in a Catholic church in Dec. and she had a lot of 'non-religious' songs at her church. It depends on the parish. I hope that this helped Good Luck!!

I just came from precana music and they said that they were very particular as to what music you are allowed to use. I think they really only want what is suggested-that was my feeling.

Most churches have a music list that you can choose songs from but I'm sure if you ask the music director he or she may be able to work with you. Good luck!

I appreciate the feedback, I guess we will just wait and see what the church tells us and decide then....
We just like the enya song and wanted it more part of the ceremony then the reception...
