Processional Question

Processional Question

So FH's parents are divorced. His dad has remarried and his mom is dating a great guy. FH & I went to dinner with his mom tonight for his birthday. We started talking about the wedding and she asked us who was going to walk FH's stepmom down the isle to be seated and into the reception. Here is my question, does she need her own entrance into the ceremony and reception? Should I have someone escort her down the isle for the ceremony only or should she just sit where ever she wants on her own. Thank you in advance for your help and I am sorry that it took so long for me to finally get to my question.

Re: Processional Question

I guess it depends on your FH's relationship with her & how he feels about things. For example - did she help raise him? Or has she been around for many years? Or is she relatively new in his life? If she's a 'new' wife, does FH think it will hurt his mom to have her escorted? If so, will it hurt his dad if she isn't? Sorry...I know this isn't very helpful, but I think this one really hinges on your FH's relationship with his parents & step-mom...

If your FH's dad is remarried, I would think that his dad and stepmom would walk down the aisle together.

I was in a similar situation--DH's dad is remarried, but his mom is not. We had his mom walk down the aisle escorted by her brother and then his dad and stepmom followed. DH has a great relationship with his stepmom and we would've hated to have left her out because we found it desrespectful.

Re: Processional Question

It all depends on his relationship with her. If FH gets along well with FSM and wants her to be part of the wedding then she can walk down with FFIL. If he does not want her to be or she may not want to take part in the procession she sits in the pew her husband will be sitting in after he comes down the aisle.

Thank you, FH does get along well with FSM and normally we would have FFIL walk her down the isle, but the problem is that FFIL is FH's Best Man. FH & I will ask her what she would like and we can always have one of his nephew's walk her down the isle.

I would have FH's father escort her down the aisle and then take his place at the altar with FH (groom). Otherwise does FH have a brother or someone else that would escort her down the aisle?

I would have FHs dad walk her down and instead of sitting walk up and stand with FH...they would be the first ones down the aisle...unless you have your grandparents walking, if grandparents are walking you can have him walk with FH up and then walk around the guests seating (not up the aisle) and go meet FSM to walk her. If that made sense. Or ask her and see, she may want FFIL to walk her then you can do the above

Good Luck
