Re: Programs for dummies

I wasn't planning on doing programs-but after playing around on the computer the other day, I changed my mind.

I did a search in google for wedding programs, and found lots of templates. I just edited out the words that were there, and customized them to fit our wedding.

Once I got the layout down, it was just a matter of deciding what to include (maybe the words to 'our song', some sort of wedding blessing or prayer, a special mention of some friends lost last September).

Once you figure out the layout (when pages are folded, right side is the front of the booklet, etc.), it's easy.

I'm looking around for a cover now. Then I'll just tie it together with a fancy ribbon.

I hope this gives you some ideas...

Re: Programs for dummies

I have seen a site called officeupdate.microsoft.com/templategallery
I have not had a chance to really look through it yet, but there are a lot of templates on that site. Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Programs for dummies

Hi Mickey, I'm still playing around with the programs...just trying to get everything perfect. I have to meet with our parish liturgical coordinator to figure out the details of our mass so that I can list everything in the program.

I was planning on using my printer (inkjet), and will probably use cream colored paper. Nothing too thick or too fancy...just a medium stock. After all, it is hidden inside the program cover.

Re: Programs for dummies

Hi Ladies,
I looked into this over and over again with the programs and we decided that we wanted to stick with our invitation scheme and save the date scheme. We use very natural paper for these with deckled edges (raw edges). To try to find decently priced paper, and then buy another ink cartridge for the printer incase it runs out, and the labor time necessary to print out lik 100 programs....we gave up and got them made. We used a William Arthur tea length, 2 cards tied with a satin ribbon, and in 5 days we have beautiful programs. The price difference was woth my time.....

To keep in mind...I had some paper manufacturers tell me not to use my home printer b/c it would mess up the spooling if the paper is any thicker than like your average envelope.

Good luck!

Re: Programs for dummies

I actually made mine on my own and then brought it in to have approved by the priest. I used ivory cardstock from Staples and created the program on Word. My Grandmother ( very computer savvy) found a beautiful picture of a Celtic cross that I am using on my cover followed by an Old Irsh Proverb. Once they were created, I brought them back into Staples and had them copied onto that paper (they have great digital copiers - you'd never knwo they were copies). Later I just punched a hole in the top left hand corner and slid an ivory satin ribbon thru it to tie them together. All for about $35! Hope this helps!
