Pronovias / Priscilla of Boston -- NYC

In search of my wedding gown, I have two appointments in Manhattan in the near future -- one at Pronovias and the other at Priscilla of Boston. Has anyone had consultations at either of these flagship stores? I'm curious to know what to expect (I haven't done any dress shopping at all yet, except online/magazine browsing). Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Pronovias was an AMAZING experience for me and other girls on here have said that they had great experiences there as well. They are super attentive, patient, and their Customer service is great. I had two ladies help me and an entire floor all to myself AND there were plenty of other girls there to try on dresses. They have 7 floors. FM if you have any further questions....

I got my dress at Pronovias. They treat you like you are a princess at the store. However, my only problem with them is when I originally ordered my dress I told themthat I would need extra length. They told me that I would not need it. Well the dress came in short. They had to pull one of the pleats down to make it long enough for me. Other then that I love my dress and the experience..

I am a fellow tall bride (5'11') and am glad you warned me about this! I will be sure to order extra length if it is in doubt. Thanks!

i went to Priscilla of boston and had an amazing experience. it was a little hard to find because it was on the 2nd floor of a building.
i went on their website and made a list of my favorites. they brought them all out and really helped me figure out what i was looking for. very attentive...very large dressing area. overall great experience. its too bad i fell in love with a dress at kleinfelds.....even though that experience wasnt so great

I can't rave enough about Pronovias!!! Every bride deserves to be treated with kindess, respect and should be made to feel like a Queen.

My consultant Stacey was phenomenal. You will be greeted in a beautiful lobby and escorted upstairs, they'll offer you champagne/coffee/tea and you'll talk about your likes, the feel of your wedding- your vision. Then you'll hit the racks and your consultant will also choose some styles. You'll be handed a silk robe and try on everything you want. I never felt rushed and I always felt like a Queen.

I'm sad that I have to wait until July for my first fitting....I wish I had more reasons to go back sooner They let you take as many and all photos that you want....honestly, prepare to have an amazing time.

I'm still a bit shocked at the price of my dress and veil....for the quality and the level of service, it could have easily have cost double. ALL THE BEST- Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

Here's some photos of the day I purchased. The staff insisted on taking our group shot. So great!

I love both Provonias and Priscilla of Boston dressees. I just was afraid the prices of the dress at the flagship stores would be outrageous! Anyone mind sharing about how much they paid for their gowns?

You have FM! Most gowns in the $1500- $2500 range and this includes all alterations (free), the store your dress until 1-2 days before your wedding. I sent you my pricing details.

The alterations in the flagship stores are FREE? I was unaware of that! I planned on going right to the stores because I I thought that going through a retailer would delay the process. On the Pronovias website they say they need a lead time of about 6 months, whereas bridal salons typically need 9 months to a year to order/alter, or so they say. I am getting married in September and am beginning to get anxious.... my appointments aren't until Dec. 6

Don't be anxious. My wedding 2 weeks after yours and I just placed my order on Saturday- I went twice beforehand but wanted my sisters to be in town for my actual purchase.

The brochure I received from Pronovias indicates 4-6 months to allow your dress to be produced is optimal....but that they will work to accomodate more aggressive timelines- of course it was worded much more eloquently.

Do you know who your appointment is with? I worked with Stacey and she was so calm and soothing, I'd recommend her.

YAHOOO a Pronovia thread!!! & a Priscilla of Boston thread --- I knew I made the right decision to get a log in on this site! LOL

I love love the vintage feel of Priscilla of Boston but I've always dreamed of a spanish style lace dress -- that sounds nutty but I really have always imagined a lace dress and then as I grew older I realized my ideas were spanish style!! LOL. . .

Anyways -- I think Priscilla might be my bridesmaid spot. . and I may just go to Pronovia for the dress. .

I had no idea alterations were free. . .

I don't know if any of you ladies would mind sending me the pricing FM b/c I went dress shopping with other ladies and they just don't use quality lace and they still want a serious $$$. . . And I always seem to have an eye for picking the most expensive item!!!

Are their lace dresses really expensive??? Is it better to wait for a trunk show???

Do they take deposits or the entire amount right off the bat @ Pronovia? Also how much do they pressure you about buying the dress you love b/c I'm pretty sure that the first time I try on my Mom (won't be there and I don't want to buy without my Mom.

Ok sorry for the questions but I am so in love with the Pronovia line. .

Their website says the Pronovias gowns range from $1500-$3000 which isn't really true; I didn't see any under $2000 except for maybe one--most were $2500-$3500. In fact, the gown that I really liked (but didn't LOVE) was more like $4000. They DO include complimentary alterations which can be upwards of $500 in some salons so keep that in mind. Plus they have the Manuel Mota, Elie Saab, and Valentino Sposa which range much higher than the basic Pronovias line. However, it WAS a great experience; the Pronovias salon is beautiful and the salespeople are helpful without being too pushy. I was disappointed that the dress that I THOUGHT I would love (the Higuera) ended up looking terrible on me. I am glad I went though. Their lace is incredibly beautiful and one of a kind. GL!!!

They still have the 2008 collection in the store. But showcase the 2009 collection more. Anywhere from $2000- $3000 is average. That's not including a veil or any other accessory. And of course it only goes up. But so much more affordabable in comparison to POB gowns. I tried several POB gowns on bc there were 2 in particular that I wanted to try on and they were $5500 and up, plus I'm petite and even in my correct size and different styles the dresses felt 'heavy'. But gorgeous w/o a doubt.
