In search of my wedding gown, I have two appointments in Manhattan in the near future -- one at Pronovias and the other at Priscilla of Boston. Has anyone had consultations at either of these flagship stores? I'm curious to know what to expect (I haven't done any dress shopping at all yet, except online/magazine browsing). Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I also tried on the Higuera and it looked ..well not nice..hahaha. It's the dress, not us..
I think you're right; the Higera looks so hot on the girl modeling it in the ad campaign but made me look 20 lbs heavier than I actually am ... certainly don't need that!!!

Before I post this, I want to mention that I did not get my dress at both stores-- so technically I am not biased.
I went to both Priscilla of Boston and Pronovias! Both were great experiences, but for some reason Pronovious really set the standard! I loved it better than Kleinfeld's and any other store I went to in the city-- and I think I was at pretty much every one of them!
There is just such a great, relaxing feeling there! The dresses are mostly $1500-$3000 and alterations are included which is a huge $ saver. They have alot of romantic flowy dresses with lace accents and long trains.

I went to POB and it was just another level of service! They were amazing I had one dress in mind to try on and they were not pushy at all.

Alterations are included at Pronovias/?? They told me yesterday in the NYC store that they are a $500 flat fee. My sales person was disinterested, pushy and horrible. Too bad I love one of their dresses and have to go back to try it on. I was going to have a salon in North NJ order it to save on the alteration fee....

Was Stacey your sales person? You should ask to work with her if you didn't she was WONDERFUL and I've worked with her 4 times....3 to find the dress and once to go find the perfect headpiece.
Alterations are free for me and I have it in writing, tell them you have heard of other brides getting this....I'm sure something can be worked out.

I got my dress at Pronovias as well. They had a sample sale, which we found out means they sell the current inventory to make room for new dresses. My dress is from the 2009 collection and I love it! Bonus that we got it on sale. The only thing is that at the sample sale-you get the dress they have in the store, and have to have it altered on your own. Luckily there have been some reccomendations for seamstresses on this site, and my dress doesn't need much altering.
