property deed document

Did anyone pay the $75.00 to have their own certified copy of the property deed? - Is it necessary?

I didn't. Our lawyer said that as long as it is on record with the county you are fine. We have a copy of it.

After the deed is imaged by the County, the Clerk sends it back to the party on the R&R (usually the atty for the buyer). The atty then sends the original stamped deed back to the buyer.

However, as the other poster said, if you never receive a copy, as long as it is recorded, you are fine. If you want to have a copy of it, a regualar (uncertified) copy is fine.

Additionally- Suffolk County and the boroughs have websites that you can look up your deeds and mortgages yourself and print them out.
