Pros and Cons on a Sunday Afternoon
Anyone getting married on a Sunday Afternoon. Once again Finances have us moving the the year of the wedding. We started out with 2005 then moved it to 2006 and eloped in 2005. Then we deceided to keep the date we eloped on and moved the wedding to 2007 so that we could have a Saturday Afternoon but now once again we think we may have to put it off to 2008(not thrilled really)but not totally upset. The only thing is that it makes it a Sunday Afternoon and for some reason Im afraid it will be an issue with people wanting to attend. Church isnt an issue because we deceided to get married in the Old Westbury Gardens since I would have to get an anullment to get married in church and that turned into a mess so we gave up. Sunday seems to be the only issue. Help!!!!

Re: Pros and Cons on a Sunday Afternoon
I am doing Sunday afternoon, and I don't really see any 'cons' to it. It's late enough in the day so that even my family in NJ can just drive up that morning, and still drive home that evening and not be too late.I guess a 'con' for some couples could be that people don't want to drink & party as much in the afternoon than in the evening, but we wanted something more laid back, we purposefully chose Sunday afternoon for that reason. We wanted something very low key. It was a great bonus that it saved money.

Most of our family all lives on Long Island and in Queens. The rest lives in Fla. so they would have to fly up and take time off. Which really isnt an issue for them. Thanks for your input.

We're doing a Sunday brunch and havn't had any issues. In fact it cut our cost in half and we're getting a ton of food.

we're doing a sunday afternoon. cocktail hour is at 4, everything will be over at 9 so it won't be so late at night that people won't want to come because they can't get up for work the next day.

I have attend a couple of Sunday afternoon weddings and they were really nice. I love brunches, and most of the Sunday afternoon weddings had brunch types of food; including mimosas; which was fine by me.

Re: Pros and Cons on a Sunday Afternoon
I had a lovely Sunday wedding - Ceremony at 11:30, reception from 1-6 (I believe, they extended me an hour). It was very nice. I was at a wedding last Sunday that started around 3. I had to leave early to drive home (Wedding in CT, Home in Delaware), but I was by far the exception rather than the rule.

we're a sunday morning/early afternoon....in reality, the beauty of it all is this: YOU don't have to spend the entire day waiting for the big moment...it will be earlier and therefore, less nervous anticipation (now that LIW brides get nervous!!).....even I was dying waiting for a night wedding to begin! AND it's over early enough that NJ people can make a day of it instead of needing a hotel.

Re: Pros and Cons on a Sunday Afternoon
Thanks ladies! I knew I could count on you to make me feel better. I just know that if we put it off another year(we're in no rush since we eloped)then I can do it just the way I wanted without having to settle on stuff. We were having a 10am ceremony and then the CH started at 12:30pm. It was over at 5pm. I also havent been able to bring myself to look for a dress after my first fiasco. Im still trying to lose the weight so this gives me even more time.

Re: Pros and Cons on a Sunday Afternoon
im not officially booked yet but will likely go with a sunday. pros for me were a savings of over $50 per person (with the exact same service we'd receive on saturday night) at my hall of choice. also im jewish so its either a saturday after sunset or sunday - and i really wanted to be able to take outside pics in nice weather so sunday it is!as far as cons, only one is that there will prob be very little after party being that most guests have work the next day. we are trying to make our ceremony and reception later in the day cause our hall generally recommends 10 or 11am. but i feel that that makes people who arent staying have to get up early to get there, and then theyll be hungry again at 8pm lol. i think im gonna ask for a 1pm ceremony start so that it ends a little later..but im also not a morning person

This is my exact situation and so far the 20% rule has not affected me at all.
I have already met my minumum and my due date for the response card is next week.
Nobody has said no!!
