Protestant ceremony
I`m getting married at a protestant church, but I`ve never attended a protestant ceremony! I`ve been to many catholic ceremonys, and I`m assuming they`re pretty similar (except for the communion) Has anyone attended, or planning this type of ceremony? If so, are there any unique customs that you know of? I`m trying to think of something for my future sister in law, besides a reading. thanks!

Teri, I am getting married in a Lutheran Church...it is pretty much just like the Catholic service...We will have 2 readers...no communion (the Pastor said that we could if we wanted to have a full service but most people will not take communion in a church that is not thiers). The unity candle it lite...the Pastor reads the sermon. The only thing that our church does (or should I say does not allow) is the playing of the song 'here come the bride' Im not sure how many churches allow or dont allow but I know that that is a big thing in our church. Other than that...its pretty much the same as a Catholic service. You should speak to the Pastor and ask him/her is they will be performing a wedding service soon that you might attend. Good Luck!
