PSA re: cell phone upgrades

I hate, no abhor (that's a stronger word right? LOL), cell phone companies! I bought my FH and I new cell phones for xmas. I just get my bill and there is a $18 charge per phone plus all the taxes (so we're looking at $40 something dollars) as an upgrade fee. So i called and they tell me it's to reimburse themselves for the shipping and packaging etc. of getting the phone to me. Too bad I went to the store and purchased it! So then he tells me that it's to cover the cost of getting the phones to the Cingular stores. Oh really? Well do I get reibursed gas money for driving to the store? I don't think so!

Anyway, he refunded me the money without hassle. I just wanted to warn you all of this little, in my opinion, scam that they have. They are ridiculous. So look out for it if you have upgraded!
