Hi girls! I'm posting here because I figure it has the broadest audience. I went to an afternoon wedding today that had an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour - it was beautiful, but there was NO shade and I got burned to a crisp for the first 2 hours! If you are doing or considering an outdoor ceremony during a very hot month, it may be worth it to make a note of it in the invitation so that guests know to bring sunblock, hats, etc. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time and the location was absolutely stunning - I just heard a lot of guests (esp older relatives) saying things like 'if I knew it was going to be outside I would have brought a hat.'
Just a thought! Going to find the aloe now...

See, this is something us November brides don't have to worry about. That would actually make a cute favor...little sunscreen bottles with custom labels!
FYI: Soak a washcloth with cold milk and apply to the burn...milk proteins soothe burns!

Re: Public Service Announcement re. outdoor weddings
Mine will be outdoors in July (weather permitted . . . ), so thanks for the suggestion! I would hate people to be uncomfortable!

Re: Public Service Announcement re. outdoor weddings
I saw something in a bridal magazine that there are these little sunscreen wipes you can have if you’re planning on being outside a lot…I thought that was a really smart idea. You could have them in their nice packets in a bowl or something at the entranceway, and I even saw them there they had them attached to the program.

Re: Public Service Announcement re. outdoor weddings
July & August Weddings - the hottest times to have weddings outside.
A tent/indoor location/shade should be provided for the ceremony or CH - and usually is.
I attended a wedding a few weeks ago, it was about 90 degrees, a tent was provided for the ceremony, but at one point, a guest looked over at me, and I think she was about to pass out - or at least starting to melt.

I wish I had that problem! It poured during mine.

Re: Public Service Announcement re. outdoor weddings
My CH and VH will be outdoors in June, well hopefully, weather permitting. Last June 1 was pretty hot so yeah that is something to think about for the guests. But my CH has tables with umbrellas so hopefully people will have shade. My concern is the mosquitoes at night around water. Thanks for sharing

My Oct 25 ceremony will be outdoors, weather permitting -- thankfully I won't have to worry about this too much (unless it is unseasonably hot).
I love the wipe idea!!! It probably cools you off as well as protects! I was at a bar in Freeport yesterday, on what was supposed to be a fairly 'cool' day in August, and not only was I sweating buckets, but I got pretty burned on my face. I wore sunscreen (my makeup has it) but because I was sweating, it all came off!
