Publishing?

I've done some research on my own, but thought some of you may be able to assist me. I wrote a children's book a few years ago and have wanted to attempt to have it published.

From what I've read, it seems I need a literary agent in order to possibly have anything done with my book. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

You have to market the book, but its gets printed and sold on amazon.

A woman I used to work with had her book published through there (it was her first book too). I don't know the specifics, but you might want to at least check it out. Good luck!
