Puggle owners....I'm having some frustration

Boomer will be 1 yr on July 31 and he's still having accidents. It seems the only way I can get him to not have an accident in his cage is to withhold water before we go to work in the morning.

I've got him to hold it 5-6 hrs right now and I'm so afraid to push it to 8 hrs without coming home in the middle of the day to walk him.

He's SO distracted when we take him out in the yard and we're out there for a half hr sometimes waiting and walking him.

He pooped in the house once each day for 3 days after my SIL had her dogs here, which I can understand.

He seems like such a routine oriented dog.....G-d forbid we go out to dinner one night for a few hours, he had an accident in his cage!!!

The only reason he's still in my house is because he and Bailey get along so well.

PLEASE HELP....I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown or killing him!

Re: Puggle owners....I'm having some frustration

Missy still has accidents but i feel its really our fault because we are so lazy. But she is good when we are not home. We leave her gated in our little kitchen for 10 hours a day and she hasnt had an accident in there for a very long time. As far as going outside, we do have problems with Missy sometimes. Since she is part Beagle all she wants to do is sniff and eat everything in sight, which, in turn, makes her take forever to pee or poop.

One thing I can tell you to do which works with Missy while she is out is talk to her when you know she has to go. I always repeat 'go pee pee Missy' (or poo poo). I does seem to work. I just repeat it over and over again. We have to leash walk her because we live in an apartment.

I can't understand why he goes in his cage all the time. Maybe its seperation anxiety???? My parents dog Nathan always goes to the bathroom in the house when they leave him. It happens so often that they have to gate him in their kitchen also.

Well, good luck. Maybe ask a trainer or the vet what to do about it. Try this website. www.planet-pets.com. They have advice boards on there.

i agree with the 'go pee pee' it does work...

we use ' Layla go do a hurry up' we've been saying for sooo long now.... all I have to do is say it and shoe goes pee... then sniffs al ittle more and goes poop....

it took us about 4-5 months before there were no accidents..... how long have you had him now? i dont remember.... but you have to remember as well that he started all over again when he came to you......

but definitly try the 'go Pee Pee' it really works!!

I do not have a Puggle, but this is a Pug trait. Fascinus is over 4 yrs old & still gets very distracted. I agree try the 'go pee pee' signal - that helped us.

we do say 'go pee pee or poo poo' which helps, but he sometimes takes 20-30 min to go!

he doesn't go in his cage often, just it seems when it's out of his norm to be in there, like at night if we go out.
