Puke-y babies

Madeleine seems to puke all the time. Does anyone else have the joys of a puke-y baby? Is there anything i can do to help stop this? She just always smell like cheese...

Is she breast fed or formula fed? I know some babies are more predisposed to it than others, her little stomach may be too sensitive. Have you discussed it with your ped? I would just so they can make sure she is keeping enough down or that it's not acid reflux.

She's breastfed. She has an appointment next week with her doc... I'll be sure to ask her about this...

Annalise had reflux so she was spitting up like a river. She did not 'vomit' often. It is best to mention it to the dr.

do you mean spit up - or puking. There's a difference and I know that cause my girlfriends 6 week old does this projectile vomiting act. YUCK!

Spitting up - Sophie barely does this, but she just like lets stuff spill out of her mouth. As if she was holding it in there. once in a while, when I burp her I hear a gurgling in her belly and then it comes out - that I think is actualy 'spitting up' - it's like a reflex happens and it comes up from the belly.

The puking - my friend's baby she says it's like the Exorcist - it projectiles across the room - or straight out ! She called her doctor and they examined him and he's totaly fine. Turns out he gets too much so she limits now the time on each breast to 10 minutes or so, and holds him upright for a half hour after a feeding. He hasnt' done it since.

My son had acid reflux and the pediatrician put him on Zantac syrup.. it worked within two days and he was only on it for a few weeks before it became unnecessary.

Good Luck!

Now I'm getting worried, like I shouldn't wait until her doctor's visit next week. She does the whole holding the milk in her mouth and it sort or overflows out. She also does the spit up thing... And just recently she started the whole projectile vomitting act. She does the whole vomitting act later in the evening.

I swear she's like a bear going into hibernation. She eats as much as she can and then her little body can't hold it in. But she has been sleeping for like 6 hours at night (even though she's been sleeping in her swing... definitely have to get out of that habit, but I fall asleep around the same time as her... oh what to do).

Would you call the doctor if you were me? Or would you just wait until Tuesday for her appointment? She seems to be doing okay aside from the fact that she smells like cheese... so she takes 2 baths a day, which is okay since she likes taking them.

Is she uncomfortable after she vomits as though it burns more than it should? If so, then take her earlier. I am sure she is fine but maybe you should go for your own piece of mind.

do NOT worry. Seriously- if it will make you more comfy call your doctor. But I am sure she's fine. I am telling you - that is exaclty how my friends' baby was - like PIGGING out - and then vomiting it all away!

Let us know how it turns out!

Re: Puke-y babies

Okay... so i tried the whole eat and then hold her semi-upright for about a half hour or so... I also limited her eating to 10 minutes. It appears to work out better (no puking yet) and she's sleeping better. I'm hoping it's the whole pigging out.

She never seems to be in any pain. When she pukes it's very casual... she smiles... it's kind of funny actually. I think i'm going to hold off until her doctors appointment. If she starts crying or whining... i'll definitely give a call over.

Thanks for your support!
