Can anyone offer any tips to bulid up my supply so that I can begin to freeze some of my milk? I tried to pump the last few days however it seems as if I took from his feeding because he was still hungry and I wound up feeding him what I pumped. I need to start building up a supply as I will be returning to work in a few weeks. Do I need to pump in between feedings? He usually eats every 3-4 hours... THANKS

Re: pumping
after you feel that he has finished eating, put him down and then pump, it will help to build up what you are already producing and wont take away from his feedings

I also heard that you should be drinking lots of water.

Re: pumping
I agree, feed him first and then when he is full, pump. When I was trying to build up my supply, I would get up and pump in the middle of the night if she didn't wake up.

Re: pumping
Do not pump prior to feeding the baby. The baby needs your milk supply. Pump immediately after the baby is done...this will begin to signal your body that your body should make some more milk. Make sure you drink a full glass of water when you pump.
What kind of pump are you using? That can also effect how much you are able to pump.
