Pumpkin theme??

Pumpkin theme??

Ladies --
My wedding is in late Oct. and my sister recommended a pumpkin/fall theme. I kinda like the idea and I kinda don't. My FH loves the idea. My wedding is during the day and I am afraid that alone will make it less elegant - I really want an elegant, beautiful wedding. I am afraid the fall theme may bring down the elegance a bit more. But, I like some of these ideas. I love the centerpiece-as-table-number, too --- less for me to have to do! I wouldn't put the placecards IN the little pumpkins, I would write the name on the card and attach it to the stem with a little raffia, etc. What do you think? Do you think it can be done elegantly, or does it make it too informal? I DO NOT want a halloween theme, either, and I am afraid of it looking like that.

I think Fall themed weddings are extremely elegant.
You don't have to use pumpkins if you don't want to, but I've never seen a pumpkin centerpiece and been like 'Oh, well that's nice but it's not elegant at all'

I would love to do a non-floral centerpiece, both to save money and be different. I have thought of candles, but that can be pricey too, and then my sister thought of the pumpkin idea - she went to a wedding where they used the pumpkin as a plant holder - they all held mums - which I think is cute but again, brings the price up. Pumpkins would be super cheap and very different.

I think it can be done right, the fall theme - just not sure if I know how to do it right yet!!!

i think the fall theme would be really beautiful. i'm not sure i'm so into the whole pumpkin idea. but if you do more of a fall folliage thing that IMO would be beautiful.

Im Sept and people have been pushing the fall theme with me too. I think it all depends on how far you take it. A few accents are fine, but I think you just need to be careful not to go overboard. You want people to remember you and not the pumkins....

Re: Pumpkin theme??

I am getting married in mid-Ocotber and have been very set on a fall themed wedding from the beginning, I think I just figured it gave me some kind of direction. I'm leaning a bit more towards the colors and foliage theme, butI think as you said pumpkins are cute and save some money. I recently saw a table centerpiece at a party in which they put a candle inside a small pumkin that they had cut the top off of and then put all of that inside a vase. I wish I had a picture, sorry!

I am leaning towards going with a hurricane vase with a pillar inside of it as the centerpiece - maybe use some really colorful leaves around it - and then do the small pumpkin as a placecard.

Questions:
1 - Can we trust our RH to do the centerpieces the way we want them???
2 - what are some other great fall colors for a BM dress? I wanted to use burgandy, but my FH nixed that idea the other day because he hates that color. I don't want to use orange or yellow - too bright I think - but it has to match fall flowers. HELP!

Hey Date Twin!
I'm not going to follow the usual Fall color theme. I don't like oranges, browns etc. I am going to have white, gold, and champagne color scheme for the tables and centerpieces.

My friend's floral CPs were in pumpkins instead of vases....just an idea...

Re: Pumpkin theme??

We are kind of doing a fall theme...but more with the dark browns, reds and wine colors. However my sister did fall foilage (which is why are aren't) and her wedding looked beautiful. I like the pumpkin as a centerpiece but I wouldn't carve the number it I would paint it on or something like that. Also if you do use pumpkin centerpiece try maybe a small tree with your table cards hanging off of it.

Another idea is to use the hurricane as the centerpiece and put a small wreath of fall flowers around it.

These are just my opinion -- talk to a florist you would be suprised with you can do for fall that is elegant and not too costly!

I just walked to a store and was thinking about dress colors on the way -- and almost smacked myself that I didn't think of brown. I had, a while ago, and for some reason nixed it ... but I think brown would look great on my MOH, who has long chesnut brown hair .... or champagne, but I think my mom is wearing that color.

THANKS!

Fall theme will not make it less elegant. You get to use gold and other rich colors. Don't stress I think it will be beautiful!
