Darn squirrels (or something!!) started chewing into my pumpkins not an hour after I set them up in the front yard!!!!

Did you spray them with hairspray (the pumpkins)? The guy at the nursery told me it works

I sprayed mine with clear lacquer and it worked great. The hairspray sounded good till my neighbor gave me a thought - if it rains, the hairspray washes off. The lacquer doesnt.
