Punta Cana DR

Has anyone gone to Punta Cana? Where did you stay and would you recommend it for a honeymoon spot.

Re: Punta Cana DR

Ive been to Punta Cana. We stayed at the allegro bavaro, it was nice but i wouldnt recommend that hotel for your honeymoon. DR's beachers are absolutely beautiful. The only thing is is that u really cant leave your resort. My FBIL stay at the Ibeiro Star for their honeymoon and they loved it. Also, Casa De Campo is beautiful but i think its big $$$. Hope this helps!

Re: Punta Cana DR

I have been to Punta Cana ( last year) we stayed at Melia Caribe tropical also. The place was beautiful!!!! All inclusive ...the food is wonderful! Beaches and pools are great, and the spa area is to die for. They even have a casino area.

Re: Punta Cana DR

We went to Sol Melia Caribe Tropical Resort on vacation--it has 12 restaurants, swim up bar, bar on beach and it's all inclusive. It's an unbelievable deal. We paid $1100/person for a week and that included everything, you won't find that anywhere else in the Carribean. The beaches there are one of the most beautiful--I thought they were even more beautiful than Hawaii's. The only downside is that there is not much nightlife there.

Re: Punta Cana DR

I havent been there but I just changed a vacation from there because of reports of malaria in Punta Cana specifically. It may be fine by the time you get there, but ask your travel agent or do some of your own investigation before you go just to be safe.

I went there with 3 of my friends and we didn't have as good of a time as we thought we would have.. we went when Punta Cana was starting to become really popular.. then my best friend just mentioned the malaria thing the other day.. so I dont think I would chance it

Thank you for confirming that for me. I really wanted to go there but my dad had malaria and it stays with you forever. HE cannot donate blood to this day and he contracted it over 50 years ago. It was a bump up in price for us to change but Id rather pay more money than contract a possibly deadly disease.

Re: Punta Cana DR

I just looked on the World Health Organiztions website and it stated there in minor cases of maleria in rural areas of the country. I also looked at some of the other islfands and it mentions they have minor cases also.

Re: Punta Cana DR

My best friend and I also stood at the Allegro Bavaro and we hated every second of it. there is no night life either. A lot of families vacation there too so I would not recommend it for your HM. Beaches are great but thats about it

Re: Punta Cana DR

We have been to Punta Cana and La Romana, both times stayed in Iberostar resorts... I love Iberostar hotels but if you go there you will have to deal with kids... if you want something only for adults, def. check out secrets excellence...

Re: Punta Cana DR

We're going to Secrets Excellence Punta Cana. Great rates for an all-inclusive. There are a bunch of other ladies on here who've been already and all raved about it. As for the malaria, according to the US government it's not a concern if you're staying at a resort.

Re: Punta Cana DR

I went in 1999 to Natura Park Eco Resort & Spa. It was a nice place, but the Melia resorts are probably bigger and offer more amenities.

You can't go wrong with Punta Cana though It's beautiful!!!

Re: Punta Cana DR

ME and FH went to Secrets Excellence in Punta Cana, all inclusive. It's great. beautiful beaches great service. nice restaurants.

One thing though...FH eats like a pig and the portions were too small for him. But, he's always hungry!!

stay on the resort unless it's an excursion that your travel agent reccomends.

(The drinks are included too, everything!) In June FH and I paid 3Kfor 7 nights!!! included airfare.

Re: Punta Cana DR

it is couples only so no rugrats, and not too much night life. a late night show after dinner time, and then everyone goes to their room!! It's your honeymoon!!!! (well it wasn't ours yet!) The pics on my portfolio are at secrets, in the room and on the balcony although you can't really tell.
