purchasing new tv- need help!! differences in

I decided to get rid of the tv that is on the fritz and buy another one. I cannot afford the $$ HDTV or plasmas but they have tube tvs that have a flat screen which are nice.

anyone have these? which one is the best one? I am looking for a 27-32 inch for my living room.

question: do I have to get one that is HDTV ready.. when will high tech kick in and be mandatory for all tvs?

will I still be ablt to plug in my cable and DVD with the new tvs?

I sound ridicuolus but i truly have NO IDEA???

your best bet is to go talk to the salespeople. DH has a flat screen Sony Wega 36' and I love it. The pic is SO clear (and even better with DirectTV!) I'm not sure if you should bother with HDTV since most cable/satellite is even broadcast in it. Sony is a great brand and DH will only buy a Sony.

I agree...if you don't have the $$ for plasma or HDTV--Sony Wega is the best option for the money. LUV the pic--plus you can see it from all angles (big big plus for the super bowl party!!!)

Check out Best Buy and Circuit City--every once in a while they have GREAT sales on the TV's.

SONY WEGA! DEFINITELY!

They're a little pricy, but the flat screen is awesome, and it almost looks HD to me. When you watch something like Shrek on DVD it just pops so much and looks amazing. I've had my 32' WEGA for 2 years now and I LOVE it, and everyone loved it, so we actually just bought one for my dad for his birthday in 36'. LOVE it!

YES! you can plug in you cable with a regular coax cable, then ytou can plug in up to 4 devices on what are they RCA cables? 9the red, white and yellow ones) and you flip between them with the Tv/Video Button. I think I have my VCR plugged in with a coax into the cable box, and it just goes on when i press play, but if you have RCA cables for it (mine's coax because it's OLD), you can plug it into one of the four slots. Anyway, you have plenty fo slots of cable, DVD, VCR and video games. WHEE! My FH would love to have my TV because then he could plug in 3 of his video game systems at once.

If you are looking for a 32 inch or bigger flat screen TV I would go with SONY first off and then Toshiba. They are the best Tv's in those sizes that are out there. Danielle and I have the 36' SONY Flat Screen in our living room, which was a gift from the bridal party. We love it. It is pretty expensive but it is worth it.

If I was you, I would do my research online, and also at bestbuy, and then goto Pc Richard and try to bargain the best price you can with them...They will usually give you a lower price than the product is marked.

The regular tube TVs will be obsolete in the next couple of years. (Just repeating what I have heard) So your best bet is to go to at least an HDTV compatable or better.
