pushing up question

I know I've bounced this topic around before, but having my mom here for 4 days really raised my 'is my baby developing normally' meter by a million.

i know she's still young - i guess she's around 11 weeks now. My mom put her on her tummy and she did NOTHING. Honestly, if we werent' there she would have smothered herself. She put her face right down on the mattress and wouldn't do anything but cry. I saw her lift her head up one time - at the doctor - and that was it. I never put her on her tummy because she hates it so much. I am worried though that shes' not going to gain the strength she needs.

I asked my Dr. and he said some babies hate tummy time and just never do it and it's fine. But it upset me to see my otherwise alert baby so defeated. How old were your little ones when they really started to push themselves up?

Re: pushing up question

Nicolas held his head up - I mean REALLY pushed it up and kept it up - on February 6th, putting him at exactly 12 weeks. He doesn't enjoy it, but he does do it.

But REMEMBER... EVERY baby is different!! I'm sure Sophia will hold her head up when she's ready, and there is NOTHING wrong with her.

Re: pushing up question

Jenny, every baby develops at different times and does different things. Sometimes I get myself all wigged out that Ryan isn't doing something someone else's YOUNGER baby is doing, but then I think about all the things he IS doing, and try to cut him, and me, a break!! All in good time.

As far as pushing up, Ryan also HATED tummy time, and then all of a sudden, one day he just started pushing up and it's been non-stop physical go go go from there!!! Sophia will do it in her own good time!! You are doing great!!
