I feel like I should have asked this a long time ago but wanted to hold off. My husband has been unemployed for almost an entire year and is having no luck in finding a new job. He's a web developer/graphic designer. Anyone know of any job openings? He's tried all the traditional routes-headhunters, temp agencies, etc. but the job market seems to be saturated! Help!!!

Has he tried Media Bistro. They are a website that caters to the media industry and they have a revolving door page (telling who is going where etc) and a job listing of all media related jobs (book publishing, magazines, other media). http://www.mediabistro.com/

I work for a children's publisher and I haven't seen much new hire activity. If I hear anything about designer positions, I will be sure to let you know.

That's part of the problem...he really does like what he does but he's not willing to start over to try something new. He's actually very good at what he does! It's been a looooooooong year....
There hasn't been much up there lately, but it's worth a shot.
Things are very very rough right now. It's horrible. I know a few people just like him...

Thanks girls! Misty-I'm not sure if he checks that site but I'll tell him about it! Anything will help at this point!! I keep hearing how the market is going to get better, blah blah blah....but everything is on hold until he finds something! I want a baby!!!!

I don't know of anything but wanted to send and support.
My DH was a trader who was laid off and out of work for 9 mos. following 9/11, and it was very rough....I know what you are going through.
If I hear of ANYTHING, I will let you know!

I have no help for you,,,just support. My FH loast his job right after 9-11 (worked for non-porfit in the city....well known organization). he was going through a lot of temp work to pay bills, (buy e ring ), etc. Then he decided coast guard was the way for him. He has a job now....but not one I think'll he'll keep with forever. We are hoping Suffolk Police will come through or he'll go to school for captains license.
Moral of the story....you are not allone, other's are going through times of uncertainty.
Things will work out!!!!!!

It is a tough market! DH is a web developer too. I don't think his office is hiring though...maybe an low paid intern sometime soon. They always hire their interns though. I wish you all the best!
