PVC fencing

Does anyone know how much the 6 foot PVC fencing costs (I think that's what it's called - the no maintenence plastic stuff) I'm not sure of our property size (we are doing the yard in back not the entire property. I guess it's a cost per foot? per yard?... I have no idea HELP! DH thinks we still have time till the Spring but I want to start getting it planned so we have it done in the early Spring.

Does anyone have a recommendation of someone who installs it?

Thanks

Re: PVC fencing

It costs ALOT
We spent about 10K on 1/3 acre (if that helps you do the math).
I dont know the per foot/per section cost.
Its worth every dime though.

I can get you the name of who we used. They were excellent. I think the name was Vanderbilt and they are in Oakdale.
I'll get you specific info.

Holy crap -> That's alot of money for a fence!

Liz - sorry, I don't have any recommendations....just wanted to mention that if you're looking to have the fence installed in early Spring, you'll have to plan around a significant thaw in temps....the ground could still be pretty frozen in early Spring making it difficult to dig. Just a thought...

Re: PVC fencing

Liz, Anna is right - it is very expensive. We were fortunate that the people who lived here before us had it installed, but we have the info they left us and it cost around $10K!!! We've never had any problems with it, it is definitely easy to maintain - they used Rose Fence in Freeport to install it - don't know if this is the same number but the one I have is 516.223-0777. I think it's worth it but boy is it expensive...

Re: PVC fencing

If you can do it yourself, its about half the price. We looked at Home Depot/Lowes and its about $100 a section. The quotes we got from a few fence places were $200+ a section. Compared to other fence like 6ft stockade, it was about double the price installed. I think our quote was just under $10K for our entire yard.

Is this something that can be done by yourself?? All it is is digging the posts,a nd putting cememtn, and making it level right?? We were hoping we could do it our selves, with the help of some friends.

You can also just do the front of the house in PVC, and the back and sides with regular stockade. That way, you still get the look of PVC, without the cost.

that is what we are going to do. We only have to replace one side of the stockade fence (the rest are new from our neighbors )nad the front we are going to do the PVC fencing

Re: PVC fencing

That's a really good idea Karen and one that we will probably consider. I'm not sure the size of the property but it's a side yard and the former owners had a 3 foot picket fence so far back on the property which offers a small area with no privacy, we want to bring the fence all the way out to the property line so Luke has lots of play room.

Thanks everyone

Anna, can you F/M me the info? We had one fence co. come in and do part of the yard but they are just too darn pricey to finish the job (and we have ALOT of yard left to do).

Thanks.

I'm not too sure how much. I'll have to ask my hubby, he knows. All I know is that it cost alot of $$, but just think you never have to treat it No sanding or staining!

Re: PVC fencing

We have a large backyard, and had quotes way over $10k for the PVC fencing. We were going to do the PVC in the front, wood on the sides, but then it didnt work out since our backyard is not flat, and they could not slope the fencing up. We got all wood (white cedar) and still spend almost 5k. I still cannot believe how much that stupid fence cost.

Hmi-our backyard is not flat either. and they were able to 'Stack' the fence so it sloped with the property.
I agree, it bothers me that a plastic fence can cost so much!

ETA: I bumped my fence pics post and just realized its not on the home board
Its on the NWR Board.

Ahhhh! Your pools looks so refreshing....I only saw it with your nephew dancing on the cover LOL

DH & I were talking about it last night and he said if we are doing it, we would do the whole thing PVC. Theproperty we need to enclosed in smaller than your property definitely, Anna so that gives us an idea of what it might cost. We have a few things we need to renovate but all I want is my fence and sliding door to the yard this year.
