I was just on theknot.com and saw that a bride had pyrotechnics at her wedding to get the guests into the party mood. I think it's an interesting idea - anyone seen this at a wedding? Who would I contact to do this?

Re: Pyrotechnics
I would check your hall to see if they have any restrictions for this and if they don't, they might be able to point you in the right direction of entertainment companies that do pyro.
I'm not doing pyro, but my dj is providing a bubbles machine, a fog machine, and confetti blasts so maybe your dj might be able to arrange something?

Re: Pyrotechnics
I don't know who you would contact, but you would probably have to pay additional insurance for your catering hall to do this. We wanted to do fireworks on the lawn outside the Bourne Mansion for our wedding and THAT was going to cost 5K extra in insurance. Maybe your DJ can help you out with this and might be able to give you some alternatives if pyrotechnics is a safety issue.

cool, thanks. my hall is very lenient when it comes to candles, etc.
I don't think I am seriously going to do this....as there is a cheese factor to it, but I am just interested in doing something fun and surprising....let me know if anyone has any unique ideas.

Re: Pyrotechnics
I don't know if this qualifies as pyrotechnics, but a friend of a friend of mine had a spotlight (a huge one) on the dance floor with their names like this: John & Mary 10/10/05 (example). It looked nice. I'm sure I can find the photo, just not sure if this person wants me to post it. It was unique and festive!
She used a company called www.scottlightingandsound.com

IMO I don't see any cheese factor in this. I have seen it done in the actual centerpieces and it looks amazing. It's your wedding and your day. It's great to be different. There is no where that it says you have to be like everybody else or your wrong. I say go for it, if its in your budged!!! More power to you. GOODLUCK

Re: Pyrotechnics
I don't know of any specific place, but I saw a girl at a showcase that is getting married at Crescent Beach CLub and she was having fireworks done in the bay. I think if you can afford that thing it would be ......a blast!!! sorry for the pun but I couldn't help it!

Re: Pyrotechnics
I think you're venuw would be an amazing space for pyrotechnics. I dont' know of any internally but there are some fireworks places that do 10 minute shows over the river from $5 to $10k.
When I think Pyrotechnics I think of that...Definitely check with your venue. I wouldn't be surprised if other people have done it before there.

Alicia-what about instead of the pyrotechnics, adding intelligent lighting to your regular DJ lighting. It gives off a super duper effect and makes people feel like they're in a club and want to party.
