Q for teachers...LI or NYC

Q for teachers...LI or NYC

In searching for a job on LI or NYC, should you only send your resume through BOE/BOCES or online, or would it also help to send resumes directly to specific school principals?

Anyone?

Has anyone had luck sending resumes right to principals?

Thanks!

I'm helping FH with this right now --- send it to district offices attn: personnel, not the principals. It'll just take longer to get to the right people.
Also, many (almost all) districts have an online application, you just attach your resume to the app. Good luck!

The changeover to online applications is a legal one, I believe. From what I understand, there was a lawsuit somewhere regarding a person not getting a job and claiming discrimination vs. the mail/never got to the school, etc. I think all if not nearly all schools have to accept online applications for job openings. Now, whether they take paper resumes and applications also is another story. I'm not sure if they will do this also!

I got my job through a online application. A lot of the districts don't have theirs on the BOCES website (especially in suffolk), so also try going to each district's website as well. There's usually a link to career opportunities, or something similar.

For NYC, I think your best bet would be to send resumes to the Region offices or even call, if you want a job now. Also, I know NYC has hiring fairs in the summer when you just go with your resume.

Definitely apply to each district, and if they have an online app do that. I know my district doesn't really use BOCES for that
